Can get a fully loaded G37 for around $40k which will be MUCH faster (but a good bit smaller) than a 328i. I love mine personally, but if your GF isn't into speed the Bimmer may be a better buy for her....

I don't see an AWD option.

G37 pros: Better interior, more features, much faster, better warranty, reliability, better handling
G37 cons: Smaller, more expensive than 328, higher insurance, no free maintenance
328i pros: Its a BMW, exterior styling, larger cabin/trunk, cheaper (without options), better mpg
328i cons: Interior design, not very quick, less features, pricey with options, more reliable than 335i but not as much as G37....

A 328 runs to 60 is ~6 seconds and does mid to high 14's in the 1/4 mile. Its quick enough.

Uhh, guys. . . I was behind a G37 the other day. I specifically took notice because it had 30 day plates and was the first "37" I've seen. There was most definately a "X" designation on the emblem.

The G37 handles better than the 328? ![Huh](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/huh.gif)
Anyways, cant go wrong with either car. Have her drive both and see which one makes her more giddy. I'd pick the 328 of course.
If shes not an aggressive driver then she will like either one. Maybe she will like the gadgets in the G37 more if she likes toying with the navi.
Most girls i know just want a car that looks good.

Due to the package BMW delivers I would be swayed towards it for a female driver, it makes the experience easier and more inclusive - for the first 5 years/50,000 miles the only things she has to worry about are tires and gas.

Infinity g37 (coupe) - (price $$):
Pros: Slightly cheaper, reliability
Cons: Higher insurance, faster (could also be a pro), closest dealership are A-holes, smaller car, not all wheel drive, it is rear wheel drive not as safe in snow/rain.
BMW 328cxi - (price 36k? w/ AWD):
Pros: Covers all scheduled maintance for 50k miles, its a BMW, exterior styling is better in my opinion, larger cabin/trunk, better miles per gallon.
Cons: Slightly less reliable (but doesn't really matter since 50k warranty and Amy doesn't use car much)

The car starts at $37k with no options and you mentioned shes getting at least Navi...
$36k would be under invoice! Jump on that!

I shoot people
I'd get the A5, I've seen the S5 so I'm assuming the A5 is out... and quit spelling Infiniti with a "y"

I feel if you're going to go for the BMW you can't really go for the lower tier of the 3-series, I think the 335 should be the absolute minimum you would get before taking the G37 instead. Just my

Does it have to be between a 3-series and the G37? I suppose she will choose the automatic transmission (just an assumption I make) then some of the 'fun' associated with the coupe will be lost. I mean for that price range of ~$40k, there are tons of cars one may choose.
For a first car (and for a female), I wouldn't be such a brand whore. Someone's already mentioned an A5, but how about a Mustang or a RX-8, Accord coupe or even an Altima coupe? If she can drive a stick, a S2000 is probably a fan favorite around these parts. Totally different animals but at least look at them and drive them to make an informed decision.
Used is not an option? Used Boxster, Cayman is a possibility but the price of ownership is probably a limiting factor.
And a 4-door is a no-go? I'd say for a starter car an IS250 would be more than 'adequate'. Hell, even a Civic is more than adequate. Walk before you learn to run, I always say.

if it was me i'd go for the 328 awd. i like the styling better. plus 50 k no major bills to repair it (even oil changes and wiper blades are covered) as long as the tires hold together only bills you'll have is fuel, insurance and car note but that's with any car.

Oh Hullow
if i can interject for a moment... you hit the jackpot! rich gf! marry her!!!! haha ![Tomato](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tomato.gif)
... if i were shopping for a car for myself power is always a major factor and honestly i really dont know why since im not even typically a fast driver i guess its more of a "mine is bigger than yours" mentality haha. but i have to admit the 3 series coupe is gorgeous imo especially in white (and i adore black on black cars) ... the g37 in terms of styling doesnt do much for me... but i would still most likely go with the g37 because of the all around reliability and value you will get with it

She is a brand whore tho, and she only wants a coupe. So rules out IS250 (all Lexus), Acura, Benz...she hates the rear end on the accord. She liked the rx8 but thinks its too old (hasn't been redesigned in forever).
------
Yes she is getting auto (cant drive manual and doesn't want to learn)
a5 isnt even out yet, and when it comes out it will be out in manual for the first 4 months, so it will be awhile until the auto comes out...
-------
She likes the g37 more but in all practicality i think the BMW is a better pick for her...(covered maintenance, slower so she doesn't end up wrecking it
