Ever since cell phones with cameras came on the market, it has become even more difficult for test-car drivers when it comes to secrecy. This prototype got caught on its way from Ingolstadt, Germany, up to cold-weather testing in Northern Finland. Audi’s upcoming SUV, codenamed Q7, is based on the VW Touareg and has the same wheelbase but a slightly longer rear end. It is expected to be powered by Audi’s 4.2-liter V-8. Look for the Q7 to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in autumn 2005.

 

Looks decent. Any word on the new 3G Odyssey-based MDX??

 

Upgraded Touareg from the looks. Will likely cannabilize Touareg sales.

 

What touareg sales? They are practically giving them away cause nobody wants 'em.

 

Hmm the back looks strangely like a minivan a.k.a that thing is ugly!

 

Way too late to the game. All its competitors will be out with 2nd gen models.

 

I think GM made three diff brands of cars based on the same platform. Now VW is doing the same thing...totally useless!



VW has spent a fortune for making new models, and they ain't selling. I think they are cooking their accounting books to hide all these expenses so to look good.

 

hmmm...

the toureg was the non-luxury brand "luxo-suv", capable of going up against the Acura MDX, Lexus RX330, Infiniti FX, etc..

now what? Audi has said it wants to go up against the comodity luxury brands (not BMW and MB, that's for sure), so how will they price it? You're right about the comparison to GM, and it's getting kind of frustrating.

 

Somehow Audi has succeeded in making a VERY VERY UGLY Audi. I'm VERY VERY disappointed.

I have to say that I am really looking forward to new Honda SUT.

I think that it's going to be pretty nice
