General Lee for sale from John Schneider's collection

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge...QQcmdZViewItem

All I have to say is, this car would be so damn awesome to own.

Ok, so you guys think we can raise over $500,000 to buy it?

<!--EBAY_AUTO_SYITEMPLATE2-->
Although the plate says a 426 Hemi, the car actually has a 511 crate motor from 1998 that produces approx 725hp. It has suspension by Hotchkis, auxiliary transmission by Gear Vendor, Viper brakes, and a racing steering box. Although I hate to part with this car, I am really looking forward to building a new one, something I haven't done since I built this one. One more detail, there is an article coming out in a major car magazine where this car is compared and raced against the Starsky and Hutch car, and the Batmobile. Guess who won?

I heard on the news that he's selling this car so that he can raise some funding for a new movie he wants to make.

Why ?? Money... I'd sell my right kidney for $500,000.00

Oh, and he's gonna have to discount the car... the 4th air horn (out of the 5) is missing it's cover

Seriously, I can't see why you couldn't build one like this for under $100K at least...

No car is worth what they're worth since they depreciate. The new Mustang Shelby that came out this year, the 1st car ever built was sold for $500,000. If there's a buyer, then anything goes....

Not all cars depreciate. Especially classics.

Note from ebay says artificial bidding drove up the price.

That car is worth about $200,000, even with the movie provenance. Some movie nuts may pay more, but I hope they don't think it will increase in value.

For $9,900,500, you could buy all of the following:

A 1951 Talbot-Lago T26GS
A 1936 Mercedes Benz 540K Cabriolet A
A 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet B
A 1967 Brabham-Repco BT20 racer
A 1964 Ferrari Superfast SI coupe
A 1933 Rolls Royce Phantom II Sedanca coupe
A 1972 Lola T280 Racer
A 1955 Daimler DK400 Golden Zebra coupe

PLUS approximately 25 brand new Porsche 997 Turbos.

Whatcha think gang, which package would you rather spend your 9.9mil on? Heh heh.

Most do... There aren't many "instant classics"... there are some... but most go thru the usual depreciation, leveling out, and then appreciate...

With new cars today, some of these collectors of cars like the 07 Shelby Mustang are going to be in for a shock when they go to sell 20 years from now to find that there are alot of cars like theirs on the market...

What's so special about 60's muscle cars is that must of 'em got used up. Lots of the "collector cars" of today go straight into "plastic bubbles", thus cementing their fate as being just another bubble car in 20 years or so...

It's like baseball cards... back in the old days we used to actually play with 'em, so any that survived were actually rare (and therefore valuable). Back in the early 90's, kids started taking 'em out of the package and putting them straight in to plactic card protectors, and the baseball cards from that era tanked....

There will be some cars that will be worth more then they are worth today, but most of 'em (even the ones that aren't driven) are going to deprecitate. When you start factoring in inflation, some of these "collectors" will break even. Their money would probably better well spent on stocks.

I say drive 'em like you stole 'em... I truely hate garage queens....

Or even a tenth of 9.9 mil. The bidding was reported as bogus to eBay.
