A savings of 4163.97 over 5yrs doing 30k miles a year at an average price of 2.39/gallon.

Not exactly worth the cost savings to me.

I think you're right. It is a neat perspective though.

No, even though the car appeals to me in a lot of ways, I could never get past that ugly digital speedometer that sits way up high in the middle!! So stupid.

unless you put a really high monetary value on saving the environment and lowering our dependency on fossil fuel a marginal amount.

Definately an interesting way to look at it, till next year or 08 when the EPA standards for gas mileage changes and hybrids gas mileage drops 20-30% of what they currently sticker at.

But for those people that buy SUV's and use more gas than they can afford and bought the car just cuz it was cool I think this is useful. Not that they'd care anyways.

My estimated savings were nearly the same as yours.

Yep for me not driving that much as it is my "savings" rounding off would be:

$1500 over 5 years

$3000 over 10 years.

Whoopie!!

Only prob is Honda doesn't have a Hybrid suv, that may be a possitive for the Saturn Greenline Vue though or the likes..

Its a cool calculator, at least they have the balls to compare, but like most above the result is the hybrid doesn't cover the spread.

Definately true on the SUV drivers, I see them all over the place in the town where I live. And then if we look at the local income level there is no legal way these people are affording this cars.

I think between you and I we have the highest mileage 2003 CL-S 6speeds, there might be someone else with the same. This would explain the similar cost savings.
