G37 - Driveway pics

Well folks, was just surfing the g35forums site, and found this:

I was on my home yesterday, and there's a guy that lives by my house who always has the newest Nissan and Infiniti cars in his driveway. I always figured he owns a dealership or something, as the cars always change, and the cars always have dealer plates on them. Anyways ... I was driving by (in my brand new 2007 G35 sport w/ Nav + Tech - which finally arrived 2 weeks ago), and I see in his driveway ...

THE 2008 G37 COUPE! I live in Toronto, Canada by the way.

I slammed on the brakes ... parked in front of house to take a look at it in person. I finally said to myself - gotta knock on his door. So I do. I introduced myself, came out and asked him - "How the hell do you have a G37sitting on your drive way? I thought they weren't being released until June?".

He told me he works for Corporate Planning for Infiniti, and that he always gets the new cars before they are released. Anyways ... we got to talking about the 2007 G35 and the G37, and he said that the power difference between the two are barley noticable. He also went on to tell me that the 3.7 litre engine will never make it into the sedan as it WON'T FIT. The engine is too big. That should answer everyone's question as to why Infiniti decided to go w/ a 3.5 for the sedan and a 3.7 for the coupe.

He also told me that he should have the GTR on his driveway in the not too far future. I asked him if he knew about pricing. He said its too early to tell, but he said around $80k Canadian (about $71K US).

Just so no one thinks I'm full of shiat, I took some pics - I didn't have a camera (other than my piece of sh*t blackberry camera). Here are the pics I took.
Some Pics:

Well to be honest, in the post on the g35 forum, he has stated that once he gets it, he'll have a look and see. If so we might get driveway pics of it.

hate the G37. Liked the 1st Gen G35 Sedan (fav car) - hated the G35 coupe. The new G35 - ehh. I love Infiniti, but hate what they've done to a good thing.

So is the 37 a replacement for the 35 or an addition?

The G37 is the replacement for the G35C.

Didn't the "GTR" go back to the lineup of Nissan? I thought they initially planned to badge it as an Infiniti but later decided to make keep it as a Nissan....

Maybe it's because it never experienced so much bandwidth usage at a time, being the real popular site that it is..

First I just wanna clear it up, i didnt see the car.. it was posted on the g35forums, by another member you lives in the GTA.

Now in regards to getting it, mostly leaning towards to it. It all depends on how it looks like in person. The new interior I really like, but there are things about the new car which I dislike. so let see

Yes you are correct, the infiniti dealers are crying since the new car will come as a badged "nissan". I am guessing they might come with some tweaked version of the GTR in the Infiniti badge, but THIS IS A GUESS ON MY PART.

I don't understand how the "engine can be too large for the sedan." They increased the bore and stroke, it doesn't lengthen the engine by doing that. Besides, it's a FM platform, there is a lot of room forwards if the engine did happen to grow at all. I call

you know if I was someone who worked for Infiniti Corporate and some stranger knocked on my door to inquire about a car in my driveway, of course I would give him the benefit of the doubt that he's not:

1. inquiring to later steal the car
2. trying to get into my house to rob me
3. a corporate spy for another car company

So of course I would tell him everything about Infiniti's future plans. After all, I did know him since he knocked on my door 10 minutes ago.

The more I see the coupe the more I dislike it.

And I agree about the engine not fitting.

Hey babyblue ...

Thanks for sharing ... I must have missed that post when cruising g35driver. I posted something over there about the proposed pricing scheme -- that's a FYI in case you want to consider it. Nothing extrordinary -- no pricing from Infiniti Canada yet.

If the GT-R is around ~C$80k ... that might be do-able for me in a year ... (scheming ... ) In fact, it'll probably be considerably cheaper in the US ... and you know I have no problems importing from Detroit. (Nissan & Infiniti have no restrictions so far with their US dealerships selling directly to Canadians)

Although I hope you plan to wait as GT-R's in the US will surely be selling well above MSRP for some time.

Hey, its been ages since i've talked to you guys... so looking for a GTR.. well i'm in the market at the moment just a litttle confused if i should get the G37 or not, since i doubt the GTR will be 80K here. Just for example, the G35 sell for 30ish in the US, while in canada its 50K. Thats a huge increment. Same thing or more will apply in the case of the GTR.

I agree that 80K CAD for a GT-R sounds optimistic. I'm guessing closer to 100.

Infiniti got it reversed now, I like the G35 sedan more than the G37 coupe this time around.

A family friend whose has a dealership, has hinted it will be around 100K mark, NOT STATING A RUMOR, just what i've heard. But to pay that much of increment between US and Canada is huge eh. Numbers that i'm basing by are 70K ish US, to 100K canadian. I might see in G37 in person, and if i'm in love then buy it. If not i'll wait for the GTR pricing and see.

^ Nissan may copy Honda/Acura ... ie S2k ... US MSRP = $34k, Canada = C$50k. NSX C$144k, US$90k ... where's the logic in that?

And if I did buy a GT-R ... I would wait until the initial hype is gone. Plus in a couple year's time ... all the jobs will be out of Michigan (Detroit area) and so I would probably be on the short list ... I might be able to score a decent price with my local Nissan dealership since I went to school with the general manager. He's hinted to me he'll take care of me

Exactly, the engine displacement to a 3.7 litre will not increase it's size at all. It's mot like they are doing a 6cyl to 8 cyl. And even the, i bet they could some how squeee the 4.5 litre in there. It's very narrow.
