Ah sweet! How does it feel? What's the upper end of the tach like (once you've broken it in let us know) comapred to the CL-S? No VTEC but it has something else doesn't it?

I'll get back when I have a few more miles and it's broken in. The demo I drove was amazing though. Doesn't jump off the line but from about 10 up to 100 it's quick--rev limited from 155 down to 143-145. Feels, and sounds, like a V-8 even at low rpms. I've never loved the torque so much as this--just punch it at any rpm (except off the line) and it jumps and feels so good! Has some sort of a two-stage muffler that opens up when you goose it good but gives off a nice sound at all rpms (not too muffled). 0-60 times have ranged in reviews from a high of 6.7 or so to the latest at 5.9 for Motorweek. The differences are due to weather and other test conditions. Feels more powerful that the CL-S in normal driving unless you've got the CL-S wound tight. Very positive go-cart steering (some don't like the quickness and call it twitchy)--has the best steering wheel of any car I've driven. They're supposed to get a 6MT in a month or two but wouldn't have made any difference 'cause the old lady don't like no manuals (I tried to get her hooked on the CL-S 6MT but it was a no-go). Brakes are the best in class and the best I've ever used including a couple of sports cars that I've owned, e.g., '77 280Z but boy do they put out brake dust! Pretty quiet with some road noise from the tires (215-55-17). The only suspension mods that I can see doing might be to put some sway bars on it; the ride's pretty firm right now so I don't want to put springs or lower it now.
Appearance is a matter of taste so I'll leave it at that--I like it but I can understand how others might not--especially the rear end.

Haven't driven one yet, but checked it out at the Auto Show. The interior felt kind of "cheap" compared to the CL-S, but the performance aspect of it is great!

Me & my bro-in-law (power fade on ATL.com) went to test drive the BMW 320i, IS300 and G35 last weekend as my sis needs a new car.
Imo, the IS300 drives REALLY nice! I was very surprised how well it felt. The sport shift was amazing. There is no lag in between shifts, nice and crisp. Plus RWD is always nice.
The G35 had a lot of engine/road noise. The brakes were very responsive. The sport shift was crap...the length of the shift was way too long. Nice bottom end and RWD. Its cool that the rear seats can recline.

I just watched Motor Week this afternoon and they did a piece on the G35. They tested it at 6.2 to 60, not 5.9. And 14.8 at 95 in the 1/4, if I remember correctly. It really had great brakes, stops from 60 were like 115 ft.

You're right danny25 about MotorWeek. The G is a really nice car and does everything well but all of you need to keep one thing in mind---it's a SEDAN right? So, maybe it's ok to compare to the TL-S. You guys ought to check it out because it's brother, the G coupe, will be here in a few months and it'll be great. The thing that you have to keep in mind is that you want it to be better 'cause it means that the next generation CL will leapfrog over the competitors. That's the way it goes--if you want the latest and greatest you better have short leases and be ready to jump!

The interior is definitely not as "luxury" as our CL-S interior, but it's decent. Just a bit plain for a Jap luxury interior. The Maxima interior is sparse too so it's just a Nissan thing.

Mechanically, i think its a great car with a lot of great r and d behind it. But for that car to be a true player they should have styled it much better. The coupe is a different story, it looks hot as hell. One thing you guys are not remembering is that while all these cars are coming out, Honda sees what's here and what will be here for the next few years. The next TL and CL will mechanically rule most of the competition in its class just like it did from 99 till early this year when all the new genereation of cars in its class came out. I can see the next TL/CL pushing the S logo even further, maybe to the status that BMW pushed it with the las gen M3. Honda said it themselves in a recent mag. They said something along the lines of going back to the basics and making the S logo not just more horses, but making it a mechanically and asthetically different. I hope this is true and i wouldnt mind paying a lil more cash for a car that is solidly built in Japan.

Where is my super sauce?
I think that a 4 door sports car is an oxymoron.
If I want four doors, I'm going for luxury and size, like an RL, or a big Lexus, BMW 740, or MB. I don't understand the concept of a 4 door sports car. I have no interest in taking a right turn at 40 with four or five people in the car.
I also thought the Nissan reputation of el-cheapo interior plastics was continued with this one.
As others have said, I may think different of a coupe.
