G35 Class Action Lawsuit
first of all, what a suit. Second, in CA, used G35 prices are hardly depreciated. Many of them sit on the lot at full retail prices!
Nissan faces Calif. lawsuit claiming brake defect
Mon Oct 11, 2004 04:44 PM ET
LOS ANGELES, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Consumers have filed a proposed nationwide class action suit in Los Angeles against Nissan North America Inc. over a brake defect in the Infiniti G35 they say has undercut the vehicle's resale value.
The lawsuit, filed on Friday, asks that the automaker reimburse owners of G35 sports sedans and coupes made in 2003 and 2004 for the costs of fixing the defect, which causes brake pads and rotors to wear out faster than normal.
A similar lawsuit was filed last month in Florida.
Nissan disclosed the problem in late 2003, and amended its warranty to cover the brake pad and brake rotor replacements for the first three years or 36,000 miles the buyer owns or leases the car, Nissan spokesman Kyle Bazemore said.
The company also reimbursed owners for brake maintenance that had already been performed, Bazemore said.
Bazemore said the company had no comment on the California lawsuit, but described the Florida claim as "unfounded."
The lawsuit claims the brake problem "significantly increased the expected costs of ownership of a G35 well beyond the warranty amendment" and diminished the car's value.
"You're still going to have to replace brakes and rotors more often than you normally would," said plaintiffs lawyer Aashish Desai.
"Who is going to want to buy a (used G35) when they know they have to replace the pads and rotors every year?"

Ok, I'll chime in.
First of all the lawsuit is fucking ghey. And it stems from dissatisfied NON-BREMBO owners saying their brakes are wearing fast.
They do wear quickly. Infiniti has said they'll warranty all non-brembo brakes for 3yrs/36k. So why in the fuck it has gone this far is beyond me.
There will be no Brembos on the coupe for '05. The reasons are NOT for quality issues. Far from it. All Brembo owners (that I’ve seen on the various boards) are very happy with their braking system. No one really knows why they got dumped for '05. There is no abnormal brake wear with the Brembos. The only complaints are the excessive dust (normal for performance pads) and the occasional squeak which is attributed to a performance braking system.
My thought is that Infiniti was paying Brembo a fortune for the setup. OEM rotors from the dealer run $500 a piece. No, that's not a joke. So instead of paying Brembo a shitpot of money, why not develop your own braking system, equal or close to a Brembo setup, and not have to pay royalties, etc.... Build it in house, cheaper... Save money by not paying Brembo. And hey, while we're at it, we can increase MSRP for 2005, and make MORE money.
I can see if from a business decision, but still... Those brakes are something I'm glad I have. Now when it comes time to replacement... I doubt I'll go OEM. But I've got 9,000 miles on mine and they're perfect. Others have over 20,000 and 30,000 and there are no issues either. Stock Brembo pads at that.
Cliff notes... The issues are with non-Brembo cars.

because most honda owenrs are too proud to admit there is a serious flaw. Just do a search back on this site. You'll see the threads where people think it's no big deal. Then a year later, they're all bitching too...

They buy a sporty luxury coupe, and then bitch about the wear on the sporty brakes. hello!!!!!
I bet they are the kinda people that would say "I want a summer tire that grips like hell, but I want it to last me 50,000 miles"

Well some of it is most G35 owners are not going to mod a thing. THey bought it for being an entry level luxury car. But the car is very sporty with sporting parts. And people just don't understand it.
I thought G35 resale was pretty high?
Didn't Infiniti take a pro-active stance and warrenty the brakes before? I thought that was a great move.
Some people just can't be pleased.

exactly... and 90% of those problems are caused by the drivers.... i had my g35c with brembo for 1.5 year and my rotors are 80+% new and my F pads have 60% and rear are basically new. sure it squeeks sometimes but that is how metallic pads work....
they drive fast and brake hard and complain about the wear....
