I drove a G35 Coupe. It's 280 HP and definately a tad faster than a TL-S.

Forget horsepower... torque is much higher too, that'll make much more of a difference.

No matter how to slice it, a TL-S will need I/H and a good driver (aka good launch) to beat a bone stock G35 Coupe 6speed.

Yes, of course, I just thought about that too. The torque was especially noticable off the line. That car is a blast to drive. The only thing I didn't like about it was that you have to let go of the accelerator when shifting in SS mode (automatic trans, of course).

If you had to do that in the 2nd Gen TL/CL the transmission problem wouldn't be nearly as much as an issue as it is today.

And you run high 14's completely stock? If so that is pretty impressive, I don't want to continue the back and forth flaming but to be honest 1fasttl, I don't think it would even be a drivers race between me and you.
Don't get me wrong the car is clean and of course stock to stock you'll get me but give me the go and i guarntee that you will not catch me!!!

So....... tell me your 60' from your best run. That will explain if your 14.8 was due to elevation like you claim or... other factors

<--- this thread

I'm calling since you are such a fraud. Can't even come up with your 60' times. Leads me to believe you are making up not only your 1/4 mile time (which sucks) but nothing else you've said in this thread is credible.

This one went downhill fast.

That track is 2,700 feet above sea level,

Altitude corrected your 14.8 turns into a 14.3 or 14.4. (Multiply your ET by 0.97)

That's not enough to "mop up" a G35C 6speed. You beat the driver not the car so stop boasting about how much you would smoke other people in different parts of the county.

First of all who the hell are you to tell anybody what to do. If i beat him that shows that i am a better driver. Second if i lived in "Maryland" maybe i can run a lot better numbers then what i have the only time i did take me TL to the track. You want to say fraud, please don't be mad cause maybe you can't drive for shit or your car isn't that fast. 14.8 in 95deg weather and about 25% humidty. You keep asking me about my 60' times when i told you it's been over a year and since you make your self sound like a "pro" driver you figure it out. Oh yeah and if you want to get technical about the altitude it's 2,800 ft.

You are correct you beat the better driver. That's what I said. A properly driven G35C 6speed (bone stock) would beat you. PERIOD.

Oh and you are right I can't drive for shit. Ahem 14.1 @ 99.9 MPH 2.1 60', street tires. 81 degrees 45% humidity.

Oh and to get technical, LACR is 2,710 ft above sea level: http://www.lacr.net/week.html

That is pretty impresive but then again how hard is it to drive an automatic and you have to remember your in a coupe so i give you props on your times and like i said i wish i was in another state that had lower altitude so i can run good numbers just like you. And the altitude i got was from another site that stated 2,780. LOL just all fun and games i guess hu

It's not hard to shift the automatic... working the throttle is the hardest part on the launch (which is why I asked about your 60' times)

I just don't understand why there's this perception that the G35 is such a fast car like a Ferrari or something. People seem to think the G35s are so much faster than our cars that there's no way to beat one. But in truth, the cars are not that much different in terms of performance.
Well read my post again...at no point do I mention that the g35 is a fast or a super fast car compared with tl/tl-s. All I am saying is that from my experience the G35's have better take off than evry Tl (both) that I have driven. I mean I could just have the same response that you gave me and say well the acura tl is not all that everyone makes it up to be...blah blah blah.

I crack up everytime I hear some schmuck telling us about one of their [illegal, life threat to others on the road] street racing. It's like protocol already: "I dropped it into SS, turned off Traction and powerbraked" as iff that's going to give them an instant 300 HP boost

Very nice car, personally it is my next pic for a car... but obviously you can't read...... we are talking about a highly modded TL-S beating a STOCK G35, did you catch that STOCK!! From the looks of your car, you are not even close to stock.....

But if you need the assurance, YES a MODDED G35 will beat a MODDED TL-S There how's the ego now.....better?

How do you know he's not close to stock?? The only mod I can CLEARLY see on his car are his rims.

I agree with your post......true......Maybe I should have said "not stock" instead of "not close to stock"......But honestly ask yourself...If you had that car would you get rims first?

Personally it will be the third or fourth mod for me when I get my G35 coupe.. after the stereo, suspension, brakes (if it doesn't come with the brembo pkg), CAI, Exhaust.......

The rims are an astetic part of the car, which co-incidently cost a ton of money compared to the rest of the typical mods done to cars. Assumingg most people would rather "be fast" than "look fast" espically in a sports coupe, leading me to rationalize that there is most likely at least a grand spent on that engine.... that rim and tire package has got to be 3 grand easy....

The only mods are high flow cats and nismo exhaust which is more for sound to me than performance. Bolt ons do nothing for the G35 as I've only dyno'd 228 at the wheels so far.

Tonio,
Damn bro! you only put out 228HP with that mod...That number is a stock number for sedans...My cousin 6mtSedan with the Stillen exhaust, Z-tube/K&N, Kinetics hi-flow and some grounding wire.. put out 257hp to the wheels. Thats on a Bosch Dyno though...

Yeah, that day everyone was getting low dyno numbers but what can you do? I have the K&N and ground wires as well but I seriously doubt they make a difference.

Actually, I see waaaaay more 04 TLs than the G35 (sedan and coupe!). Of course I see waay waaaay waaaaaay more 2nd gen TLs than both 04 TLs and G35s. I don't see too many TLS, more CLS.

This probably means that 2nd Gen TL > CLS > 04 TL > G35 > TLS. As we know, more sales means better car so the 2nd Gen TLP owns joo!!!!

Really, way more 3rd Gen TL's than G35's? That's interesting, because there's approximately 60,000 3rd Gen TL's in the United States, vs. 152,000 G35's as of September 2004. Of the 152,000 G35's, 96,000 are Sedans and 56,000 are Coupes. (see http://www.hondabeat.com/sales_stats.xls and http://www.g-owners.com/article_read.asp?id=8)

True but I lived in Indiana...don't see too many Infiniti dealerships in Indiana

I recently moved back to Cali so now I see tons of both G35s and TLs. I just notice the TL more often as it looks better But inall honesty, I do see a lot more TLs than G35 coupes. Don't see too many coupes

Don't include pic in quote, pls!

Guys/girls:

When you are quoting a post, remove the picture link. We don't need to see the same pic over and over again.

It just uses up bandwidth and makes it very slow for members with dial-up connections- which is most of them.

So, give us a break, pls.
