BMW E30. Potential to mod is endless and can be had for 3k and a whole motor swap for another 2k. 11k on an E30 is gonna make it ridiculously look/drive real nice.

He's NOT looking to spend big dollar on modding. It's just some basic bolt-ons to have fun, that's all. Doing engine swaps and shit are certainly not feasible.

Those 1st generation G35 coupes sound like the best option for him so far!

It'll be great if he can find some TSX with 6MT, but I guess they are pretty hard to find.

Wish I had a GTO though. Don't think you'll be able to get a decent condition LS2 GTO for less than $14k though.... I know I couldn't

S52 powered E30> all

This is a project I have been wanting to do for a while, almost traded the E28 a few months back for a nice E30 (no swap). Just buy a wrecked E36 M3 on the cheap (side damaged preferred) and start transferring parts over to the E30..more or less anyway. This project would take a little research to be able to do the work yourself, but it can easily be done for under $11k.

If he can find a stock 97-01 Prelude base 5MT? Or too similar to the RSX?

I guess you didn't read the part where JS said he wasn't modding the car at all.

It's not a project car for him.......

It's going to be his only car that will be used as his transportation for the next 3 years while in Army.

I'm assuming they are cheaper than $11k, yeah? I know those are great cars!

Damn, let's just take out the modding part altogether. People don't seem to get what "basic bolt-ons" mean.

^^^ It's missing the curb feelers and I can't tell if the license plate rim has lights that go around it.

The title of this thread should be "Fun used car under $11k that needs no modifications".

Once again, if you are going to recommend G35, then try to find 05+ above.

Whoa, looks like it's in fantastic shape!

Is it just me or does the trunk's paint look a bit off? Previous accident?

Where is the vin number?
He doesn't mention anything about "no accident" on his description.

40k miles... sounds too good to be true.

Just talked to the owner. He seems pretty cool. He's going to email me the VIN # tonight. He said he was involved in one fender bender 2 years ago and that's it. And he's the original owner.

I'm going to be checking out the car for my friend this weekend, and if it's good, he's going to pick it up at the end of this month!

What should I look for when I meet the owner to check out the car to make sure it's a... nice car? Any method to see if it was involved in a major accident? Any tips will be appreciated!

I think his best bet would be:
03-04 G35 Coupe
00-02 Audi S4
02-03 CL Type S (or TL)

Same thing I recommended to my brother, and he was looking for something around the same price range.

Yes, 99-04 Mustang's are not the most sophistaicated cars ever made, but they are extremely reliable and fun to drive. A couple bolt-ons and lowering springs and you have a nice sounding, good looking, fun & reliable car.

Plus you arent driving a vagina car, like a Miata

Thanks for the suggestion, but he wants a sedan.

And @Miata comment. It's a fun little car.

A TSX 6MT is a fun sedan imo. Doesn't it have a ton of aftermarket support too? And his budget can be adjusted, that's why he's willing to get that TSX above that I found for him.

Yes, he's been looking at the G35 sedan as well. But I guess it's pretty hard to hard the ones with a manual.

make sure all the vin number stickers are attached to each bumper... If you see no vin sticker, then you know that it wasn't just "fender bender".
