Fun cars for $35k?

My buddy is looking for a new car to replace his 02 nissan Spec-v with 98k miles.

He wants to spend under $35k. He would like to have the seats fold down so he can put his bike in there. Or a car that has a bike rack, im sure most can come with those.

Anyways, he first wanted a SUV but i talked him out of that.

We drove so far just the Legacy GT cuz it was near by and dealers were closing. He loved it but the seats dont fold down. But there is a bike rack for it so no biggie.

I noticed you can get a CTS-V with 7k miles on it for around $34k Wonder how insurance would be for a 26 year old though.

Anyways, what should he look at? Has to be a manual and doesnt really matter if its FWD, AWD or RWD.

Problem i have is that he likes every car he drives. So basicly i feel like i can get him to buy anything i want.

Legacy GT Spec B can be had for $35K, or even the Legacy GT Limited wagon (and no need for a rack).

Is the spec B worth $35k though? What makes it better than the standard GT for that price?

You get a red interior. It has navi with the stick (can't get that on a regular GT), bigger wheels, different steering wheel (momo), sportier suspension and its one of 500.

For 2006, 500-unit numbered production run. For 2007, standard model trim.

+ Exclusive red leather interior
+ Navigation standard
+ Upgraded Bilstein sport-tuned suspension
+ Aluminum alloy suspension arms
+ 18in multispoke wheels (GT: 17in)
+ MOMO steering wheel

For 2006, only available in one color. It is pricey, but that red leather looks awesome. Plus, you said he was looking at 35K cars AND he liked any car he drove.

He wont get a wagon, nor would i let him.

I dont like the looks of a STOCK wagon. He will be keeping this car stock (maybe tint) and thats it.

A3 2.0T - practicallity of the SUV your friend wanted, but the sportiness of a car. Problem is, it get's pricey with options.
A4 2.0T - If he hates hatchbacks and wants something a little more classy.
Legacy GT - neat car with AWD

If he's an outdoors type maybe he should consider the new "breed" of sporty small SUV's ala

Acura RDX
Mazda CX-7

Both of those drive sportingly and would easily swallow a bike and gear. I'm not on an Acura forum for no reason so I vote RDX

There's a used S2000 at Rusnak Audi in Pasdena, I forgot the price of it. it's not currently listed on the rusnak site. It probably needs to be added to this list of vehicles.

it was a sweet ass car

Why must you hate my threads that much to not read them.

He needs a car to fit a BIKE in it.

Sports car w/ a Thule bike rack... FTW...

Don't make me go searching for a 993 w/ a rack on the roof

Legacy wagon/outback/forester might be a good compromise instead of a SUV...

Even the Forester XT has some hp...

While I don't mind making compromises (a sportwagon or minivan would work for me if I was a biker), I'm under the impression that we're supposed to come up with some really sporty ideas here...

Couldn't find one w/ a thule rack, but found a early 911 w/ a yakima rack instead
