Fuel problems? Please help.

I have a 91 Acura Integra. I am having a problem that I believe has to do with the fuel. Occasionally it will just die, usually just when idling, but has now started doing it while driving. It just idles down like it has run out of fuel, after a little while it will fire right back up, like nothing is wrong. I had another vehicle do this to me and it turned out to be the fuel pump, so I changed it out about 2 weeks ago. After changing it didn’t die on me for awhile, but has started dyeing again, and getting more frequent. I was thinking maybe it would be the fuel pump relay, but have read somewhere that the relay also controls the cranking/starting circuit, which it will crank overright after it dies, but will not start, so I am unsure if it is or not. Anyone else have any ideas that I could check before going any further? Thanks.

It idles between 6 to 700 rpms.

Plugwires are good, just did a tune up last week before driving from norther oregon to southern california, and this was a problem before the tune up, and is still ongoing.

could be a faulty TPS, not sure, but does the integra have an external fuel filter?

6 to 700 is where it is supposed to be for a manual transmission. Yes it has an external filter. Changed it when I did the tune up.

From what you're describing, it may be the Mass Air sensor. Do you know where it's located on the car?

do you think there is something in the fuel tank? you said the issue went away and then came back. Also, have you changed the fuel filter lately?

yes, changed fuel filter last week, also had the tank out 2 weeks ago to change the fuel pump, was perfictly clean inside. Will look into the Mass air sensor, yes I know where and what it is, really knowledgeable about cars, just current location has me low on tools and available time/space to work on it. Thank you all for the time and info so far.

OK. See if you can get the car to run. If you can, tap the mass air sensor with a screwdriver handle or something similar and see if the car dies.

ok, car runs fine, this is an intermittant problem, when it shuts down, it will start back up again, sometime within a min or two, somtimes about 10 min. Looked at the car and it does not have an air flow sensor, it's older than that.

Doesn't have one? I thought it would. I still think is sounds sensor related. Are you sure that it's a '91? Hopefully someone with more experience with that particular car can chime in.

esp since it is warmed up and shuts off.

My old 87 escort gt had an ignition control module that went bad. It would only shut off when warm and once it cooled down i could restart it.

i have seen plenty TPS sensors failing that dont throw codes. I dont know what the values are supposed to be for the teg but see if you can find then and test with a ohm meter.
Also like terry said, check the MAP sensor (its what hondas use instead of MAF's)

From: Hi, i'm from the internet
The fuel pump will be a seperate relay. It could be faulty. Relays only control 1 circuit( the reason why they exist in in the first place). Also could be a bad wire or loose connection. Does sound more like a fuel issue due to it petering out instead of shutting off quickly.
