Cars licensed in Washington State are required to have their front license plate displayed. Is displaying it in the front window rice? Should I just go without it until I get pulled over and hope I don't get a ticket?

Pretty sure putting it in the window is illegal and also dangerous

I run without it and just pay the fines when i do get pulled over. Then again i only been pulled over once for it.

You will still get fined for having it on your front wind shield. I got a ticket a few years back because of it.

No front plate and have only received a warning. I had the plate by my front window when i got pulled over and made up some BS about fixing the holes the dealer drilled and the cops like good answer, he then gave me a ticket for tint oh and he didnt say anything about having the plate by the window...

Haven't had my front plate on any of my cars here in San Diego in 6 Years and never got a fix it ticket yet. Never a warning or nothing.

I think I would be more concerned about the windshield. Anyway, thanks everyone for your replies. I think the windshield idea is out...who knows about leaving it off or putting it back on. We'll see.

Well, I was my MBA night class tonight and a parking enforcer left me the inevitable ticket "improper license plate display." Hmm.

I think your odds of getting a ticket when your front plate is in the front windshield are higher than if you don't have it displayed at all. Its still illegal, only when its on the dash, its more noticeable. And putting it in the front windshield is ugly too.

Another thing, you drive a Civic Si. Instant cop magnet.

I took it off my CLS right away and the 3 times I got pulled over (only 1 ticket) the officer never even mentioned it.

Yeah, if you got in an accident it would become what's known as a "secondary projectile" -- basically anything in your car that's not secured will start flying around after impact. (That includes people not wearing seatbelts, depending on the speed during the crash).

I have actually not had it displayed at all for the last couple months. The next ticket will probably be for my tint.
