Ford GT Guys after SW´s Texas Mile record

It´s nice too see how many powerful cars are attending the next Texas Mile. I guess many want to be the first to 250 mph in the standing mile. SW now holds the record 246.2mph with his GT55-91(91mm) Supra

There are a lot of powerful cars going. UGR(Underground Racing) are bringing 5 cars or more. I hope that they bring the Twin Turbo Gallardo "Nera". SW´s 246mph supra, Amit Bhaktas 1722rwhp 243mph Supra, Tommy Banh´s 242mph Supra will all be there like last time. Bunch of TT Vipers, TT Ford GT´s etc.

And for an added bonus Forumwars will shoot their show/race at the texas mile. They are still looking for a fast Corvette/F-body to represent

A total of eight cars including a 1400rwhp Gallardo, 1200RWHP FGT, 1300+RWHP Porsche, a 1300+rwhp Viper , 1300+whp Supra and a couple of others. The racers would do a rolling speed start (40-75mph) to the quarter mile marker at which they would go WOT until the 3/4 mile marker. Seven cars would be eliminated until one Forum King would be determined. This would be a TV event and the new name of the show is 'Now Back It Up'

Here is the A.R.T Ford GT it was twin turbo but is going to have a a Custom built 106mm gt55 unit. And btw Chris Johnson who formerly worked at Boost Logic is working at A.R.T now.

Underground Racing cars are going. Some pics of the two Supras which are in the top 2 places and have both went over 240+mph in the mile

there are a lot of other cars that attend this event also. But here are a few pics.

SW´s black 246.2 mph Supra

Amits Big red "widebody" 243mph Supra

UGR bring the TT Gallardo Nera "R" Maybe be attending?

holy shit, thats crazy...and i know toyota never ever imagined their supra would ever hit anything near 200mph, much less 240+!! wow.

i always thought it was extremely pointless and even really stupid to have cars with 1000+HP, but it makes more sense when talking about a competition like this, really nothing else to use the car for except at shows and 1/4 mile.

That is because the stock version of the car isn't a 180MPH car, never mind
240MPH. Someone spent serious $$$ and spent countless hours researching
through trial and error to get that speed. That same $$$ and R&D can be applied to just about any car with an inkling of starting(point) potential.

If I was to do this with a car, it would be something far more exotic looking
or unique (DeLorean for example).

methinks the supra is a bit more special than most other cars, it is used alot for this and i would think there would be a good reason for that

SW's record run in the Supra and from what I've seen over the forum years, SW's a real car guy, so if he's beat he will come back with something crazy... he's got the cash!

Actually not true. One of the car mags (either C/D or R/T) stated back during the 90s that a Toyotal engineer at the time indicated that the MKIV TT is capabale of 180 mph when ungoverned and in stock trim. (If I dig a little, I might be able to locate the article...if so, I'll scan and post.)

man looking at it again the Gallardo looks sweet, who knew installing the turbos and piping would simply require taking off the rear bumper/support

and the rear tires on that red Supra

uh.. sure it is. the stock car will hit around 194 mph before it runs out of gear.

edit: what I mean is, all it needs is about $500 worth of work to reach 194 mph. I consider that to still be relatively "stock". and furthermore, if you just disable the speed limiter (very easy to do, just pull a fuse) a 100% bone stock car will do about 180 mph.

I'm very curious to see to see which car will beat SW's Supra this year. For those who have not seen the video of the 246mph run, please do so, that car is just fucking bonkers. Also kudos to him for owning a stunning car collection as well.

I didn't say someone will beat him per se. I actually doubt that someone will be able to drive any faster...But let's just say that I know of some crazy cars that will attend this year.

First off:

9.1 @169 MPH? For the love of god......

And the Toyota 1JZ and 2JZ motors are notoriously strong. It is probably the best engine to build a 1000HP car without going broke. And it's an inline 6.

these cars are incredilbe to do 240+ on a standing mile...

but i always go back to the McLaren F1 which does 240mph on 627HP crank...yeah so, McLaren F1 probably wont hit top speed in 1 mile, but these cars take DOUBLE the HP to do it.

just wanted to point out the engineering in the McLaren F1...nonethless these machines are incredible in their own right. amazing stuff.

Cody's GT will be amazing. Seeing it in the shop is just ridiculous. With the addition of CJ to the team, ART should definitely step it up a notch.

And while SW is definitely a fast driver, he has some shady sides to him.

Nonetheless, it will definitely be a fun weekend!

Oh, and the photo shoot with Cody's GT was a blast-there are many "better" photos
