or they stop showing those commercials Still, I'm not a big fan of the styling on HD trucks. They look a little too truck-like.
er, actually, it seems like its a little old. Funny cause I only recently started seeing the Duramax commercials touting "class-leading" 765 lb/ft of torque. GM

Shame it lags like a bitch when you first jump on it.

I know it is slightly off-topic, but just wanted to mention this. I looked at the pic at the link and realized something. Of all vehicles on the market, IMO trucks would benefit from auto-leveling HID's greatly. I hate when there is some truck driving behind me with it's lightly blinding me through the rear window. And if they have a bunch of heavy stuff in the bed, it could be worse. Even a set of focused projectors would greatly help. Just my

Im sure it can be done aftermarket easily, But From my understanding of this motor, this motor is a new design from the ground up and is designed to make and handle a lot more power than this reliably. Im not sure if that type of power is something the older motor can handle "reliably"??

Was towing capacity up as well? It doesn't say in that letter. If not, well than was this really necessary?
Here's hoping Ford decides it wants more power in the Mustang and re-tunes to the GT to 450HP.

That's unimpressive. The SL65 has more useful torque, it's slightly lighter than a big ass truck. That said, I always hate how the diesel trucks are faster than my car, that torque doesn't hurt at all.

Understanding of course that you can buy 4 of those trucks for the cost of one SL65

The inherent differences between diesel and gasoline engines relating to torque aside, torque in a truck is much different than that of a car. Torque in a truck is engineered for towing and hauling applications. If I recall correctly, the SL's peak torque of 738 lbs. is at 2200 rpm while the Powerstroke's peak torque is at 1600 rpm. The Powerstroke's peak horsepower of 400 is also much lower at 2800 rpm than the SL's peak of 661 at a relatively lofty 5400 rpm. High torque at a low rpm intersecting with peak horsepower at a low rpm is a much better combination for towing and hauling.
Both the Powerstroke's and SL's ratings are impressive, but both are engineered to specific purposes.

I was joking mostly, I just think considering how many people actually use trucks for what they're supposed to be used for would make the SL65 a relevant comparison. 95% of the people I see driving big trucks are without trailers, so they're effectively using it as a status symbol or a measuring tape for their manhood.
I will say, the SL65 has so much power but the computers kick in very easily and limit what the car will actually do. That said, the SL65 is one of the most amazingly brutal cars I've ever driven, what a feat of engineering.

I don't know. I don't think I would cross shop an F250/350/450/550 to an SL. Personally, I think both border on foolishness. All these ridiculous high horsepower ratings that all manufacturers seem to embrace these days seem to be getting out of hand.

I'm sure it's impossible to prove but I'd be willing to bet far more people take advantage of the power in their Super Duty than the people driving any AMG Mercedes.
