These cars just look retarded. They don't look cool, they don't serve any function, they just are poor attempts to polish a turd.

This is only slightly stupider than people running staggered wheels on FWD cars. Oh yeah, those 9.5" wheels on the back are sure going to help acceleration! Oh wait, that only works when the power goes to the rear wheels. Damn! I forgot that's how it works.

That shit is retarded. If any of you guys remember that " donk " phase in the mid 2000's, this IMO is just as fucking stupid. Oh well, to each his own i guess.

I hate this look. I don't care of its on an EF hatch like the one on pg 1 or a "VIP" car like the others....tire poke and stretched tires looks utterly ghey and stupid. Hpnda-Tech people ride its nuts too....if you dare not like it prepare to be flamed by all of its fanbois as a hater or "hata" of da west coast

i like wheels coupled with a drop and lower profile tires that fill in the wheel gap, make the car look more aggressive, and can still function as a daily driver ... that flush, poke, whatever you call it doesnt even look nice most of the time... some of them look cool, but most of them look awkward.

The lip is too much and not a fan of the eyelids though. Looks like a WRX spoiler too.
it has a wrx spoiler because it is a wrx...looks good tho, love the wide stance look on those cars when dropped

i agree with you guys too, i'm not a fan of the whole stretch/poke thing either, some of those guys take it way too far
maybe a little bit of stretch isn't bad, but no where near what is on these pages
the worst is when the wheel pokes so much, and they strech the tire so much that it's rubbing the fender, here is a pic to demonstrate

Quote: hate to break it to you guys, but that JDM stuff you guys all love so much is also one of the biggest contributors to the hellaflush scene. VIP/yakuza cruiser style started in the 80's and 90's and theyve been doing the low and neg camber thing for a while. and.... the bimmer/vw scene have been doing it for even longer. it just hasnt blown up until now. whether or not its functional doesnt matter because we all know it isnt. its for the style and flavor that the individual is trying to attain. yeah sure some people go overboard with it, but.... whats it to you? if thats the look they want to go with then let it be. there will always be people just putting parts on just to put parts on. there will always be people following the bandwagon to do the next "in" thing. but the industry has been like that since the start. you cant deny, though, that the look definitely works for some cars and it's so much better than the autozone chrome fad. in their defense, they could ask all of you guys that buy performance parts and dont race or take it to the track. whats the point?? at least theyre driving around and using the parts they buy. just sayin... and it also gives a whole new look to some cars that you wouldnt think twice about so...
i'm not for the everything in the scene, but i do support it as a style and i leave it at that.... it is what it is.

/thread. let me leave you with some cars to drool at.

vip style
calling /thread on your own post?

I'm a fan of the flush/VIP look to an extent.... it's just that there's a very thin line between looking great and looking ridiculous. The cars the OP posted crossed the line IMO. I've never been a fan of that JDM craze.... I wanted a JDM front end for my Integra, because I liked the way it looked. JDM to me is marketing tool, if its from Japan then companies can automatically overcharge for it, and suckers will pay more for it.

It does matter if its functional or not because driving on sidewalls and having cords showing from your tires is retarded. And I don't drive like a grandma, when I buy performance parts I DO use them by going to the track or autocross.

Not to mention a lot of these people into the VIP stuff are young.... instead of saving up towards a house they're spending 10s of thousands on appearance mods, wheels and suspension setups.

I've seen that S2000 before, and I admit I like the way it looks. But I still think it's retarded to do that to an S2000! Probably handles worse than stock.

yeah but what im saying is... its all up to the person.
modding isnt about pleasing other people.
if you like the look then go for it and dont look back,
if you can afford it then go for it.
i dont really hate on it or say that what theyre doing is wrong because like it or not, this hellaflush craze is one of the first things in the longest times that has been universal to all cars of all makes. every single board out there has a couple of "hellaflush" cars. kias, even minivans.
yeah, sure there are cars that we may see as crossing the line, but theres people like that in every scene. i just respect it for what it is. on some cars it looks good and people do it well, some not, but that goes with everything.

Quote: wtf? Is that a clear coat over the rust?
No.

Long story short. The owner Mike Burroughs had acquired a black E28, started doing mods on it, got it to look sick, loaned it to a friend who crashed it and messed up the A-pillar. Knowing that the car couldn't be repaired, he decided to take a wire wheel to the car and let nature take its course. The end.

You either love it and see as a piece of art that's pushing the limits of being completely unique OR you absolutely hate it and don't understand why you would want to drive in a rust bucket that could potentially give you Tetnus . I love it and respect that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I would never do it to my E28.

I mod my car to my own liking and don't give a crap if some people on the Internet don't like it, and neither should people who like/rock the mexiflush look. I couldn't do that to my car if it was free and you paid me to do it... It looks retarded.

We need to just agree to disagree. This thread was for the OP to see if he was in the minority on this and clearly he is not. I don't like donks either, and you can be sure if someone started a thread about them then I'd tell them what I think.

I like functional, tasteful mods. Just an inch or too lower and tires flush to the fender. No neg camber and no stretched tires. A good ol' set of Eibachs and some 20" GT-30's and my car would be complete...

this is called freedom of speech, its completely right.
anyone can like or dislike anything and voice it if they see fit.

you're contradicting yourself.

obviously it doesnt matter if we accept it, b/c they are still going to do it. the purpose of this thread is to comment on how we feel about the poking/stretched tires.

people can say they like the style just as some of us are saying we dont..

I think that quite a few of them look good in pictures, but when I've seen the beat up tires and fenders up close at car a car show or awkwardly bouncing down the street (which can be said for any car that has been lowered a bit too much) it just doesn't look right. I don't really see enough of them in Tucson to hate them just for existing yet. I do have that reaction to anything sitting on daytons though.

Well this hella flush scene is exactly like the drift scene. Starting out, people hate it and criticized Keiichi about drifting. They asked him why the hell would you want to drive like that and wear out your tires so fast, blah blah.

Now, they hold drift events as well as events that showcases extreme offsets on a car. It's a style that is widely popular and just like drift, it's mainly for show. Of course these cars are not gonna blaze it up at the track, everybody knows that. People like the hella flush style because they're "stylish commuters."

The worst is when they take an actual performance car and utterly destroy every good characteristic of the once brilliant chassis/suspension *cough* S2k *cough*. The whole poke/stretch look just reminds me of hipsters...do what you do, but man do you look like a complete queer in the process. You might have a whole scene following the same trend, but everyone outside of it is just laughing at you. Now it seems like a huge "Hella flush" clan has formed and they are as cocky as can be, which is downright hilarious Neon colored wheels seem to be in now as well, which can be pulled off on the right cars IMO. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be caught dead riding around in a car with neon green wheels but its fun to look at.

I don't mind the VIP scene at all. Those cars look really nice. They were just luxo cruisers when they rolled off the dealership, and continue to be. Now with big, wide wheels and stretched tires. The Civic is at the opposite end of the car spectrum. Always looking for something new just to be unique. They were reaching when they started showing up at drift events. Now they're going for the wide/stretched look.

I saw this the other day. Trying for the concave look.
