First Ticket

On saturday i got my first ticket, 88 in a 70. it was retarted because i was passing a car on a one lane road because it started to move into the should to allow me to pass. just as i finish passing the car a cop comes over the hill and gets me about a mile down the road. the ticket will be around $174 plus other cost (ie defensive driving). i am interested in going to court just to see the processbut how much more could that cost?

He actually wrote you up for 88 in a 70? Usually a cop will give you a break, and write you up for only 5 or 10 over. I got a 5 over instead of the actual 15 over I was doing, but the ticket was still $90, which sucked.

Oh, if the cop doesn't show up to court, doesn't the judge usually drop the ticket?

yea but...98cl you've got a SLIGHT advantage over us

my first ticket was getting pulled over for a 68 in a 50 zone. It was a downhill road and I kept accumulating speed without knowing it and next thing I know...I smelled bacon.

He ended up writing me up for like 56 or some shit, but when I went to court, the judge noticed he changed it and was basically like "fuck that, you deserve the full penalty" and stuck me with a $160 ticket.

If you don't want points and anything on your record, get a lawyer and go to court. Won't cost more than a few hundred dollars.

I would love to go to a meet but you need to go a little north of houston because i am in college station

i do not think texas has a points system and since it is my first ticket i can just go to defensive driving. but i am looking at this form for the ticket and it looks like they have an ass load of fees.
174 (ticket for speeding)
97 (pay the county for defensive driving)
40 (cost of defensive driving)
20 (driving record)
313 total which seems really high

Most times you can work out deals with the court to reduce the ticket par a mandatory defensive driving course or even community service depending on the incident. You can usually get away with no points, just takes a bit of money and time.

i called the court, and i am going to pay the county 97 to take defensive driving, 40 for the actual course, and 12 for the driving record
