First spy photos of the BMW X3 (looks like crap!)
I just hope the above is a badly camuflaged X3. Cos if this thing looks anything remotely to what I see in this pic, I cant see people buying it.
The article reads:
"These are the very first pictures of BMW’s upcoming X3 crossover. Based on a modified all-wheel-drive 3-Series platform and a few bits and pieces from the X5 (primarily the front axle and steering rack), this wagon-styled SUV will carry over the now-familiar styling cues of its big brother, the X5.
Although this obviously is wearing fake panels to disguise the shape and styling details, the Graz, Austria-built ute is expected to start actual production in early 2004. Measuring in right between the 3-Series wagon and the X5, the X3 is hoping to fill a narrow gap. With more cargo area than the X5, the carlike ute will have lots of competitors in the $25,000-$35,000 range.
A 3.0-liter six will be available at launch time, but BMW will quickly be adding a full line of engines shortly afterwards. The 3.6-liter M version will follow in 2005 or early 2006."
HEY! WHAT 3.6 LITER M VERSION ENGINE? Hmmm...

oh man thats nasty
i hope thats just some hideous hoax!
BMW has sooo much potential in a small SUV model... they could make some hot shit. a sport car / suv crossover a la the FX45 and that Audi Steppenwolf concept would be hot as fuck as a bimmer.

spy photos are usually taken out in the deserts... unknown places like the famous area 51...
i doubt it will look like that... usually test runs are taken with cosmetics added onto the car to make it look different. the medias out there and watching, and car manufacturers are very aware of it.

Actually, not that I am looking at the hood more closely, it has got to be a camuflaged situation here. The hood looks like ti does not belong there. Look at the fit. Totaly off.
