Finally Called It Quits on my CL-S

I traded my old worn out 01 CL-S for a much less worn out 09 Accord EX-L navi sedan yesterday.

the cl was the best car that i have ever owned(also the only car i have ever kept more than 2 years). i made it to 238k miles, but the car was literally falling apart on me. first tranny made it to 221k.

every aftermarket part on the car was on their last leg as well.

now i get to start all over again and hope whoever buys my cl doesn't come looking for me after they find out the disaster they got themselves in to.

haven't got any pics of my own yet, but so far i am happy with it.

Congrats man. I just bought my dad an 09 accord too.
These are great cars. I don't like the build quality too much but its still good.

yeah, it doesn't have the same feel as older hondas, but it doesn't seem like too many newer import brands have the same build quality that made them competitors in the first place.

Congrats on the new car! Must be nice to be in something you don't have to worry about. What other cars did you look at?

I just hope the sale price of your old car reflected its problems. Kind of a douche move to offload a problematic car onto someone else without them knowing.

He traded it in. Dealer knows they're getting it as is. It's the buyer's responsibility to inspect and do their homework on it. I don't see a problem with it.

Besides, dealers aren't dumb. I'm sure his trade in price reflected the issues.

Congrats

And yes, the dealer knows what they are getting. They test drive your trade in and inspect it before making you an offer.

Congrats! Any reason why you went with an Accord rather than a TSX?

Congrats! My friend just bought the exact car (color too). Going from the CL to the Accord sedan do you feel like you're driving a huge car now? I know it's pretty roomy. Also, did you look at the Accord coupe and just decided against it or you were just looking for a sedan?

Really? A dealer is going to take the car and do one of two things with it:

a. Sell it to a wholesaler, who will then try to fix it to a sellable condition.

or

b. He'll scrap it. Not worth a whole lot on his lot, a car with 200K plus miles.

OP did the right thing. He didn't do it as a private sale and hide the details. That would have been a douche move.

Ah, I missed the trade-in part. It is always the buyer's responsibility, but it doesn't make hiding problems any better. Moot point in this case.

What are your plans for the car?

I traded it in because I would have felt guilty selling it to an individual. It needed pretty much everything but the engine and transmission rebuilt. The dealer gave me 1700 for it which was about 700 more than i expected.
I looked at quite a few other cars.
Not a fan of the new TSX design.
I looked at Sonata 2.0t. dealer wouldn't work with the price for what i wanted to pay.
I liked the Accord coupe, but when i bought my CL i was single. Coupes are a huge pain in the ass with the family that i have now.
I looked at a few others as well, but none seemed quite right as a whole picture.

My plans for the car are pretty much just, coilovers, 20's (maybe 19's), exhaust, and maybe a lip kit. that's pretty much it though. I also would like to find an updated navi disk.
If it would quit raining, i could get some pics.

Now i just have to talk the wife into letting me buy the Landcruiser for sale down the road so i'll have a toy again.
