wow, I thought the is-F would be another soft lexus just w/ a huge engine.

when I drove an IS250 for the first time, I was shocked how quiet the engine was, to the point that I could barely tell when it was nearing the redline unless I was looking at the tach. The sport shift in the 250 wasn't much fun at all, so I just drove around in auto mode.

If it could have a standard gear box it would be heavenly.

I'm sure somebody will come up with a way to get rid of that beep...

Having the beep would be too annoying!

The IS-F is probably the most overpriced car i've ever seen. The main difference between the IS350 and 250 is a bigger engine, "sporty" suspension upgrades, and bigger brakes. Price difference is about $3-4k

.....now the IS-F is pretty much what the IS350 is to the 250 (Bigger engine, sporty suspension, and BBK)....so why is it almost double the price?!

I can't think of why any car would *need* 8 gears but i'm guessing it has to do with gas mileage and getting the most out of the engine....who knows.

I ran into an IS-F with MFG tags last week. I wasn't impressed at all in terms of acceleration. I pulled away very easily.

How is that any different from the C63 or the M3? The IS-F is in line with the rest of its competition.

Or probably because my car puts more hp to the rear tires than the IS-F does at the crank.

I would love to have that car, however the RS4, M3, and C63 would all come before that if I had a choice

Good point.

I'd definitely take the IS-F over the M3, C63 and the Audi. What good is having such a great car if it is often in the shop? One thing that Lexus has always been known for is its excellant reliability.

The M3 isn't $20k more than a 335. The M3 base is 53k, while the 335 goes for 41-42. Not to mention its an M, which automatically justifies the price increase Not to mention it comes with a completely different bodystyle than the normal 335, headlights and all.

The IS-F MSRP is $56k (base), while the MSRP for the IS350 is $36k. Thats a $20k difference!!!

How many Lexus models have torque numbers that are as high as any of the AMG models? Now how long would a manual transmission last being driven by someone with little experience last with so much torque?

The reason AMG cars come with an automatic transmission is largely to keep them from destroying transmissions, I believe, could be wrong however.

Exactly...lol the 65 series have over 730ft/lbs of torque

It has nothing to do with being a fanboy either, M cars are established and proven.

If it's an inexperienced driver I doubt it would matter, and you make it seem as if the Lexus has no torque. It makes 370tq hardly anything to sneeze at. Sorry i'm not buying that argument

370ft/lb tq is a good amount but is nowhere near overkill...not enough to justify no option for a MT. Its targeted as a performance car afterall...

So you're comparing the 65 series motor to the Lexus IS-F... right. Last time I checked the IS-F is competing with the C63... A naturally aspirated V-8, not a Twin Turbo V-12.

"It's an M so it automatically justifies the price" That's a fan boy comment right there. If the BMW charged 80k for an M3 does that automatically justify the price too? It's an M after all right?

I'm not putting anything down, C63, M3, S4, all excellent cars. All I'm saying is for Lexus's first attempt at competing with these cars, it looks like it did a good job.

And the C63 AMG makes 443 lb-ft, quite a big difference, no?
