Although, this car is a bargain w/ the Enzo engine (and steering wheel! ) and all the other technology, imo. And - the SOUND is sweet!!!

As a race car, I agree that the F430 is a lot better, but that's to be expected considering the mid-engined F430 has better weight distribution. But as a daily driver or just a nice upscale GT car, the 599 would be a lot of fun to own. I only wish that I had the money to buy one of each...

Pit Stop?
I'm starting to doubt the look of this car in videos. I really need to see one in person to be able to tell if it's as bulbous as it appears in videos. I like the look of the 575M more so than the 599F, but the overall package far surpasses. I'd kill for those left to right shift light indicators on the steering wheel.

..I doubted the looks of the car from the first time I saw any picture of it. And I still do.

tiff is boring, but he knows what he is talkin about. and clarkson did praise z06, but he didn't like it as a roadcar.

I know it isnt Top Gear, I was just implying that if this guy didnt like this Ferrari but liked the ZO6, compare it to Clarksons review on the ZO6. It makes the Ferrari look terrible.

The 599 GTB has replaced the 512TR as my favorite Ferrari.

I dont understand my opinions on Ferrari's. I can see an Enzo or an F50 (not that I have) and blow it off, but the second I see a F355 I go nuts.
What is it about that car?
Ill own one, it may be 20 years, but Ill own one.

During the prime of my Testarossa loving days, I felt indifferent towards the F40, which I felt was uncivilized and lacked style.

A funny story regarding TV shows - there used to be a show called "Silk Stalkings".. that I umm.. watched once in a while. There was a Testarossa in the show's opening sequences. Just a funny factoid, for one of the shots, they show a brief overhead driveby ... it's an MR2 - the one that had the similar looking panel over the engine.

1986. They are basically the same car, where Ferrari later changed the name to 512TR and upgraded powertrain, and in its final year culminated into the F512M.

Ferrari opinions are quite varied and this proves it. I think the 80's Testarossa and the 512TR are separate beasts. Yes they are both Testarossas but I do not call the 512TR a "Testarossa". It's a 512TR and there was no 512TR on Miami Vice.
Factoid: The 512TR was one of the first cars, if not the first, to get 18" wheels stock.

yes - you're saying you loved the "512TR" the moment you saw the Testarossa on Miami Vice. The "512TR" did not exist when you saw the Testarossa on Miami Vice.

....."reruns"! As went off to college in 1986, I did not watch the first runs of the 3rd season (nor did I watch much TV at all during the ensuing 4 years, save for the Mets WS and Giant playoffs/superbowl) and caught the "reruns" and some taped episodes (friends) in the early nineties. Thus....loved the Testarossa when I saw the "reruns" and love the 512TR that was being sold by Ferrari at the time I saw the "reruns". mkay??

In all honesty, it was not until the early 90s that I got into being a car enthusiast. I would not have known a Testarossa from a 328GTS back in 1986.

^^^ nothing can touch that. Old Ferraris are in a league of their own. Now, is that a real one?

It's a Birdie Daytona, it has a genuine ferrari body, but all the internals came from a corvette 427 v8. A guy in socal made them in the 80's, they were in all the magazines, because Ferrari sued him when they found out he was stealing their geniune bodys. The guy who owned it previously wanted the exact car from Miami Vice, and wanted to drive it every day. He payed $80k, that included the donor vette, and since purchashing it, he invested another 60k in aftermarket parts before ditching it for a f430.
We are in the process of having the interior completely re-done so it actually looks like a genuine daytona on the inside, and the best part about this car is that it's faster than a stock v12 daytona.
