At-Fault Accidents
At-Fault Accidents
So I pull out at an intersection yesterday and didn't notice the minivan changing lanes. The Officer wrote it up as my fault.... And not going to argue with him, I probably should have been more cautious.

So, anyone have experience with at-fault accidents? What is this going to do to my insurance premiums. By far not my first accident, but it is the first at-fault.

You will lose any good driver discount that you have, but beyond that we couldn't tell you how much your premium will increase unless we happened to have the same insurer and record as you.
It would be best to ask your insurance company since insurer approaches differ.
How's the minivan? I guess you are fully liable to pay for his/her vehicle's damage, so it all depends on that vehicles' repairing cost.. and of course, your car as well.
And you should post a bigger picture of your car, so everyone can see how much the damage has been done to your vehicle.. I can only see the front door being messed up from that picture..

When I had my 1st it was a $500/year increase for 3 years. I didn't have any damage though so the claim was only for the other car. Since you have damage you will be out your detectable for sure.

Get ready to pay increased costs for about three years.
The increased cost will most likely be about $700-$800 a year for three years. It depends on a proprietary formula that is different for each insurer.

depends on how many points on your record and your insurance company.
my insurance company has a "one oops" deal. where you can either get 1 at fault crash or ticket(speeding, reckless, etc) and points are added to your record. but if you "keep your nose clean" for 3 years your rates don't go up. the reason i know this i got a 59 in a 45 ticket and paid the ticket. my rates didn't change. called the company representive? she said you get 1 "freebie" as long as your record "clean"
