I can't imagine actually going through with one of those. Taking a perfectly good MR2 and trying to make it something its not. Halfway through the project, I'll probably come to realize that what I'm doing is sacrilege and probably set the thing on fire. It's impressive to the untrained eye, but when I get/build a car, I get it for me, not others. Even if its spot on, even with regards to scale, the facade ends once you turn the key. Then you realize you're driving a poseur mobile and all your friends have disowned you.
Sorry, but its just not for me.

I don't really care if someone chooses to build one of these types of kits. To each their own. They aren't really faithful to the original however, and at times look a little odd. Others, such as a couple of Porsche 550 kits are quite attractive. "Cobra" rollers such as those offered by Kirkham and Superformance are also very impressive.
Keep in mind they have a HUGE depreciation. I've known a couple guys who have built tupperware Cobras (both Factory Five), and expect to never get close to the amount invested in them. And neither was impressed with the quality of the kit.

Have any of you had a chance to watch KIT-An Autobody Experience on Speed TV. I thought it's pretty good.

Kits like the one linked don't appeal to me, i.e. the ones based on existing unit-body vehicles. Once customized these cars never look right, as the wheelbases, interior layouts, lengths, front and rear overhangs, etc. etc. all are different from the original. Plus, you'll never get a Fiero V-6 to sound like a ten or a twelve.
I do have more appreciation for the bespoke kits like the ones Terry mentions above, meaning Cobra or Porsche 550 replicas where the body of the car is a virtual carbon copy of the original and a custom chassis is provided to fill it. These kits usually drive better than the originals, are more reliable, and can be made with your choice of powerplants. They also hold their value far better than the chop-up type mentioned above.
That being said, there is one weird anomaly in the collector car world. The early 80's Ferrari 250GTO replica kit built on a 240Z chassis can fetch more than a mint 240Z of the same year. Go figure.

14-five for a Fiero!? ahhhhh, n0!
Turn a Porsche Boxter into a fake Lamborghini!? ahhhh n0!
Turn a rare MR2 into a an instant mess!? ahhhh n0!
Plus, how small would your "Reventon" be? It would just look silly (like all the other Lambo and Ferrari replicas)
OH, and would you really buy a replica kit from a guy who sounds like he finally traded in his horse for an automobile?
Ferrucio must be turning in his grave (well for the second time). The first time is when Chysler took over Lamborghini and created that abomination known as the Diablo.
interesting: on my IE tab for that site it says "QUICK CASH CAR KIT INC"
