Extended Vehicle Warranty
Has anyone purchased a warranty for your vehicle that hasn't came from the Dealer / Lienholder upon purchase?
I was interested in looking at one for a couple family vehicles (along with one of my own) that are out of the manufacturer warranty.
Any recommendations? Or are they all scams? Are they worth it?

I don't have any personal experience with non-OEM warranties but can relay some experiences from friends.
In general the aftermarket programs pay what they consider reasonable and customary, which is always less than what a dealer will charge.
Some shops won't accept payment/deal with these programs which means you have to pay out of pocket and then get reimbursed.
You need to look very closely at what is included / excluded.
Look also at whether or not it will cover rental reimbursement if your car is in the shop for a period of time.
Just some items to think about -
