The Evo is awesome, its getting great reviews in most car rags.

As long as you don't mind the interior, its a very cool car.

Very different car though. No luxury but handling and speed you'll never get with a TLS. I hear its a little jittery at highway speeds so you might want to test drive.

says hes got one and its got a boost controler and it was tuned by someone and it runs mid 12's
besides the fact if hes lying or not is this possible, are they making them that fast?

why do you say that? It's a perfect daily driver if you don't mind driving stick in traffic.

the evo is great if you're going more towards the performance end of things. for comfort and luxury keep your TLS.

I would go after the Evo if it was out now. I've got the taste for speed lately.

Sounds about right. Mid 12's aren't that difficult to mod to with the evo. That is a scary car. Mid 13s stock is expected. I think it does 0-60 in the high 4s.

If your definition of a daily driver involves harsh (and I mean HARSH) ride, minimal amenities, road/tranny/engine noise, and filling up once every 200 miles or so, this might be passible as a daily driver.

I had a stick Maxima before and I didn't quite mind getting stuck in LA traffic --- you get used to it. Not with the EVO though.

you sound like a grandma! Suck it up! Alot people drive alot worse; it's a stock car it's not bad at all. Look at all the people w/ fixed up cars, lowered suspension, finiky motors. The evo would be a breeze in daily traffic!

Well, the big thing is that the Evo is just more of a precision instrument than the STi. The STi is slightly quicker, but its advantages really end there.

Some of the mags say the STi is the better daily driver, it probably is slightly since its a softer car all around vs. the Evo. I have driven the Evo enough that I can say its a fine daily driver. The car has AWD, power mirrors/windows, door locks, keyless entry, A/C, In dash CD, Xenons, optional moonroof, even has a wiper on the rear window. On uneven pavement, the Evo is a little rough due to the suspension.

The 6spd isn't all its cracked up to be in the STi, the shift points are too close together.

I like the Recaro seats in the Evo much better than the ones in the STi. Interior wise, the Sti is only slightly better due to its trick gauges and metallic look trim. Other than that, its not infinitely nicer than the Evo's interior.

Appearance wise, I personally think the Evo looks much better than the STi. The Evo is just a better executed car IMO. I love the front mounted intercooler down to the spoiler. The rear Altezza lights need to be changed though, I already have the red Evo VII tails.

I have seen 2 STis on the the road thus far and they look like WRXs with large spoilers.

Lastly, the STi is $2k more than the Evo (just the icing on the cake).

Have you even driven one?

I am entitled to my opinion. Asloudasitgets asked for opinion and I offered.

yes, on more then one occasion. But i'm also a guy that drives alot of old hot rods, so to me the evo is a nice smooth ride.

The evo is a nice smooth ride though, esp. when compared to pretty much any car w/ modified suspension. I know my CL's ride is ALOT more harsh then the evo.

There you go. You are comparing the EVO's ride to custom hot rods.

The guy is trying to trade his TLS for a EVO, two utterly different cars with different purpose. I am not trying to discourage him from doing so; just want him to know what he'll be getting into.

I would love to own a EVO as a second car. I've driven it in the twisties and I had a absolute blast! And the head-turning factor it comes with is way cool. But after an hour or so in it on the freeways I can't wait to get back to crusing in my CL. I will absolutely not use it as a daily driver.

well the TLS is a luxury car, the evo is a performance car. All performance cars have harsh suspension.

TLS is a different class of car. It's quiet, luxury feeling, good riding, comfortable overall car. The Evo is the oposite of that. It's a performance car. Drives like one, performs like one, looks like one. Best to test drive one before you make a choice.
