Cool Even more reason to purchase car with technology package in CA.

Looks like the State of California has signed into law that messing with your Garmin style GPS is now illegal. Makes those OEM navigation systems that much better.

Good that it's limited to electronics, hopefully the good people of California can stage a protest by all reading borrow library books whilst driving.

I don't really think they are going to hassle anyone that's got their phone in a cradle and just driving along using their phone's nav. As long as wherever you mount the phone doesn't violate Cali's existing laws about obstructed views. I've never thought twice about using my phone with a vent mounted clip whenever I visit the great state.

My Garmin has voice command. Eventually, all portable units will follow suit as these laws become more and more common, so doubtful it'll have any real impact on sales of factory based systems.
