Escort 8500 High or Low?

I'm wondering, do you guys place your radar detector high or low upon the front windshield? Cause i'm wondering now if i were to place it up high at around my 06 TL rearview mirror will the tint be a problem. Cause i heard somewhere that the tint might actually affect the reading of the signals.

tks

In all cars a RD should be placed at the highest point of the windshield possible. Will it work anywhere? Yes it will, but the most effective range will be yielded by the highest mounting point.
It should not be behind the tint strip. Although some will work ok. Depends on the car.

Solo S2: mid-low windshield most times; in Va/DC, low lefthand corner of windshield.

No, that site is misleading. For radar the higher the better, but for LASER ONLY the lower works better since the laser beam is confined & is targeted at your front end. Since your stuck with laser anyway & it's not in wide spread use as much as radar, why do it?

Notice how that site also says before it going into anything.....
"During the testing of the products reviewed on RadarBusters by Radar Roy and Speed Measurement Laboratories, the radar detector is always mounted in the manner the manufacture recommends in their manual, in the center of the windshield."

V1's manual says...
"Valentine One works best when mounted high in the windshield, and toward the center between the windshield pillars. Use your choice of windshield or visor mounts."

Escort manual says....
"Using the supplied windshield mount, mount your PASSPORT level and high
enough on your front windshield to provide a clear view of the road ahead. For
optimum rear detection, center the detector between the driver and passenger."

My manufacturer says to mount it high, so I mounted it high.

I always heard that higher is better for radar detectioin while lower is better for laser detection. I mount mine low, right above the windshield wipers.
