is Edmunds full of BS?

according to Edmunds, my car has a trade in value of $16, but the KBB trade in clean value is $14.2k. The Wholesale value of the car, according to KBB, is $16.5k, but when I told the dealer that I wanted wholesale for a trade in value, they laughed. Not one dealership, mind you, but two of them. Also, Edmunds says that the invoice value of the car I am looking at is $21.5k, but the dealer swears that the invoice value is $22.5k.

What gives? Are they just trying to suck me clean, or is Edmunds really that far out from reality? Has anyone else had an experience buying a car anywhere near Edmunds prices, or getting a trade near Edmund's trade in prices?

When it comes to dealer trades you can't use Edmunds or KBB.

You have to use Galves as that's what most if not all dealers go by, they are always lower than Edmunds or KBB.

That's why people get pissed off at dealers, they get their info from Edmunds/KBB and are in for a surprise when they get to the dealer.

You can get a 24hr pass for $4.95. Go ahead and do that and you'll have your book dealer trade.

Edmunds and KBB are not bibles. One thing you can be sure of: dealer trade in is very similar to the bendover process, kindly avoid it by all costs.

The best thing to do is advertise your whip and see who'll hit your bid. Then you'll know the "true" value.

Galves is exactly the one with most accurate rates. Most dealers go by that price (i guess cause it has the lowest prices) lol

I did the 24hr pass when I was looking to sell, and almost all of the dealers I went to opened their galves book and quoted the exact (or close to) the same price I saw on galves.com.
