Dylan's S2000 -TICKETED-

So i just got a speeding ticket that says "70+" and an unsafe lane change ticket..... It's about $256 and i'm paying for my own insurance. The ticket is a big bang but the insurance increase is what really worries me. Does anyone know how much the insurance will increase? i'm 19.

Without details, no one can help you.

Oh, and 19 with an S2000? Bacon, butter, and a waffle on the rear passenger tire, or GTFO.

lolololololololololol at buying sports car and then getting a ticket right after wards.

I think user nspec_ya4 has gotten a ticket after every single vehicle he has bought.

and no one here can answer your question.
the only way to tell is to wait for the next bill.

p.s. I just recently got a speeding ticket in the kia, and my insurance rate went up $50 every month.
but each case is different as im a little older with no prior tickets.

oh, here we go again.

what year is the s2000? got any pictures?

Go to traffic school if you have not been to one in the past 18 months. You will be fine.

Where can you drive 70+ in Hawaii? When i was driving 60 on H1, i felt like i was flying and i had to slow down.

You're the highest risk driver, so expect to pay probably another $100 (at least) a month, especially in Hawaii.

i dont know how that works but usually you get an opportunity to attend traffic school when you get your bill. You pay your bill and go to traffic school for x hours, then you get no point on your record. So your insurance would not have gone up in the first place.

Every state is different. Ask your insurance company.

You only have 90 days after the citation to get it dismissed in TX. After that, it's on your record and the insurance sees it. You can still turn in defensive driving for a discount, but they will always see the citation.

^my court date is coming up!

I'm guessing, my 6month renewal interval had just started and they saw the infraction/citation and decided to bill me.

First off, pics or ban.

Second, 70+ will probably equate to a reckless speeding ticket, which it don't think you can take DD for.

You're screwed bro, don't go 20+ over the limit next time.

In Texas, it has to be 30+ over to not have a DD option and reckless is at the discretion of the officer. But then again, you could fit 66 big islands into TX...

He's got pics on his FB page of the S2000 and his black TL. He's in Hawaii and I've heard there nothing on the islands over 55 mph, maybe a few places 60 and most is 35 mph. If he's caught doing 70+ (as with no exact speed, it's reckless) mph and an unsafe lane change, it's probably a reckless driving and his insurance will go sky high!

Whatever you do, go to court and plead your case.

By the sounds of it, sounds like you deserved it. How much of an increase on insurance will bother you?

Every speeding ticket is deserved @hairy. I take full responsibility but yes, I just hope I can reduce the insurance increase somehow. I will be in court to try and dispute

A traffic lawyer is your best hope for reduced charges and insurance bump. However, I'm not sure it will offset the cost. I assume the unsafe lane change will go away pretty easily.

And 15 over is really the limit there? All three of my tickets were more than 15 over, 21, 18, and 16.

lol why go to court and dispute it? If Hawaii is like Cali, then it would be much better to do a trial by declaration, where you are more likely to win the case. It's where you fight your case via snail mail. If you don't win request a trial de novo. If you don't win there, then you get hit with the full ticket fine.

This can take up to a year to do, so it will not be on your record until the case has been disclosed. Then take your traffic school. I recommend online http://www.gototrafficschool.com/ and use this referral code X52-94M-653 it gets like $2 or $1 off. It's like $15 to do and don't opt for the mailed certificate.

Again I'm from Cali.

Yeah. Luckily the cop who pulled me over dropped it 15 since I was in a bit of situation. It happened on the beltway near 45 N.

911 was sold a month ago to the guy who sold it to me lol. Came out pretty good on it. Looking for a 993 turbo.

it depends. did you already pay off the ticket?
if not, ask them what you could do to not get it on your record.

go to court before the court day. talk to the receptionist, tell them you are leaving country very soon for work/family. and will not be back for a couple of months and you cant attend the court.

Yeah great theory...problem...Cali is broke...so this option doesn't really work anymore. The state wants it money.

At least he owned up to it, isn't making excuses, and isn't asking how to get out of it like some people. I give him that.

Um, I didn't criticize. Half the speeding ticket threads on here are morons making excuses and trying to wiggle their way out of them.

This kid came here admitting guilt, just asking questions.

I've gotten lots of speeding tickets over the years. I've paid them all and done my time with traffic schools be them online or in person.

OP... best bet is to contact a lawyer locally to see what your options are.

You gotta pay to play and I'm sure most of us have received a ticket or infraction at one point or another... thing is that laws vary so much from state to state and I have no idea what Hawaii will offer.

Do you have any friends or family who have received a traffic ticket recently? They may be able to shed some light on the process as well.

Go to court & fight it. Fight every ticket!
If your worried about insurance, cancel your policy & get a new one from a different company the day before your court hearing. That should buy you 6 months.

Um, I didn't criticize. Half the speeding ticket threads on here are morons making excuses and trying to wiggle their way out of them.
It's called working the system & due process. If the thugs, immigrants, & low lifes can work it so can I.

I got a ticket for 63 in a 45 zone when I was 17. I got a lawyer, ~$350 IIRC, and attended traffic school for 4 hours one night

When I was 22, I got a ticket for 93 in a 65. Got a lawyer again, that time it was about $400, and it got continued so many times that it was eventually dropped for a reason I still don't understand

My 1st speeding ticket was 109 in a 70. I was doing closer to 130. The K40 went off I jammed on the brakes but couldn't slow down enough in time. 2000 E55 I was driving back from Orlando as a favor for my boss. It was like a $400 ticket..interesting it never seemed to show up on my record for some reason.

Bad things will happen when you give a teenager a s2000. It isn't rocket science. Your parents have more money then sense. Don't tell me you pay all your own bills, and bought a tl and s2000 from your hard work delivering pizzas.

Usually I am, but I can't stand being behind construction trucks. I saw a line of them taking up the right two lanes and I sped up so I wouldn't get boxed in and stuck behind them. Being selfish, impatient, and greedy, earned me that ticket

I was clocked by a state trooper standing on top of an overpass with a laser gun. He called a car two miles ahead to stop me. Funny thing is, the cop who pulled me was parked past the exit that I got off of, so he had to loop around and find me

So essentially, I thought I had sped up and gotten off of the highway with no issues. He pulled me over and I had no idea why until he mentioned that his comrade had gotten my speed miles back

Live and learn, we all make mistakes. You just have to make sure you can afford to make those mistakes when/if they happen.
