Drove the VW R32........

Nice car, looks great even though the Golf V will be out next year. The seat are perfect and are heated, the digital climate is a nice touch. I found the clutch to be a tad light, not the car's strongest point. The shifter was definitely smooth, short throws.

The car sounds amazing, VW has this thing tuned perfectly. Build quality was very solid.

Found the car to be tight, brakes and handles very well. The car has power, definitely has torque through the low-midrange rpm area. Wasn't ringing the car out as I don't beat on car's that aren't mine. I could tell it wasn't the fastest thing out of the box, but overall was very nice to drive.

If anything, the R32 might be a tad expensive......$31,075 with leather. Take $2k off the MSRP and it wouldn't be such a bad deal, but that isn't happening right yet.

Go take one for a spin if you get a chance.

I saw one last weekend and it looks quite nice. But the lack of power makes it a tough sell for me....as if a $30k golf wasn't a tough enough sell to begin with.

I think it has a decent amount of power, and theres already a big aftermarket for it. I believe the stage 1 kit pushes power to over 400 hp. Iv'e already seen 1 sooped up with over 600 hp in a mag. This thing definatley has potential.

That guy over there at Audiworld wasn't too impressed. The R32 weighs 3400lbs, very surprising to me considering how small it is. But still it sounds pretty impressive.

I just think for the price the R32 should have come with some more power. The car isn't a lightweight, but it felt good and if modded out definitely would be a thrill ride.

my boy shop is modding one out now...it wasnt there so I didnt see it but he ravs about it. The car comes with a remus exhaust from the factory as well as other goodies that make it a real joy to drive. Is it true its AWD cause that makes it even more awesome

The STi kills the R32 in power stock out of the box, the STi is an extremely fast car for what it is.

Braking is hard to tell, the R32 braked very well as does the STi.

The R32 also handled very well, responsive chassis, good steering. Would have to spend a bit more time in one to get a better idea.

One thing is for sure, the R32 would make a better everday car than the STi.....just a more comfortable car.

for a few hundred bucks the STi will have 370 hp 400 tq, so that's more 300 whp spread over all 4 wheels.

Here is a good article on the R32. I would definitely get it in terms of daily driving if the choice was over a STi or Evo. Plus, VW is more refined in interior quality than the latter. The R32 is not a track car, it's in a genre of it's own class. But with the 30K price, it turns me off.

Of course I like the M3s interior more, build quality, incredible stock appearance. Most of these things should be expected given the M3s cost obviously.

I think the STi is the more entertaining car, which kind of makes sense.....more of a raw driving experience.

They are 2 different cars, but right now I'm really into the STi.
