Drove My Vette from NJ to Houston, Tx....winner for worst cops...

Well, the Vette treated me well. Averaged 24.2 MPG on my drive from NJ to Houston, Tx (my new home for the next 3 yrs)--1700 miles. Decided to drive it instead of ship it for the ultimate road trip (I'm shipping my NSX--Exotic car shipping, freakin' ~$1/mile!). Had the top down the entire way--it was awesome.

Winner for Biggest a**hole cops: Virginia. He didnt even catch me speeding. Just wanted to harass the guy with Jersey tags and a Red Vette. He wanted to "check for any warrants called in on a red Vette 'Vert for my arrest for speeding." Also he wanted to inspect my car for radar detectors because there is no way I was able to brake before I saw him hiding in the exit ramp (my K40 install is very slick ). No ticket--just harassed for 30 min.

I made a pit stop down at Bourbon Street....here's a shot down there. I applied quick spray detailer every time I filled up gas and cleaned all the bugs off the front end....

You go to Bourbon Street and all we get is a picture of your CAR?

Very nice!

I do the same thing with the Spray Detailer a lot of times. Now I have resigned myself to tape up the front end of the car.

Yes he pulled you because you were from NJ and drive a red corvette.

But i have to agree, VA cops are dickheads, lived there for 2 years, NOVA cops are the worst, fairfax area. Anywho, FYI getting caught with radar instate or out of state tags carries a hefty fine now. I think its a max of 1k for the first offense.

My uncle lives down there, nice place. GL

I believe he will be working for MD Anderson here in Houston's medical center. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Eh, I think that's just your garden variety milf with kid in tow, hasn't reached cougar maturity.

Sounds like a fun road trip though!

Is that person in the background balancing a suit case on their head? And yeah VA highway cops are pretty much the worse in the country.

Only 24.2 MPG??? I expected better results. I pulled 26.5 on a 3600 mile roadtrip in my stalled Firebird.

My dad and I drove down to Nashville and back a few weeks ago in his 07 Z06. Fun ride.

Cool trip, man. An American icon taking on an American tradition....

I drove through Virginia last year and had no idea the cops were assholes until I read about it on here. I bet they would have loved to get me; illegal front tint and a GPS on the windshield...not to mention my Oregon plates. Seems like just reason to search for dead bodies.

Sounds like a nice trip. If you enjoyed the drive down. why not just fly back and drive the NSX down.

haha....i was about to say, your TSX shifter in your avitar looks EXACTLY like shifter in my CORvette.

Sorry for the delay. I have been super busy with move and all the hospital political crap. Thanks everyone for the GL wishes. The weather has SUCKED down here. My NSX/ C6 are NOT meant for all the rain down here. I canceled the shipment of the NSX. I may drive it down at a later time but it has no use here in the summer with all the rain and definitely not worth the $1600 they want to ship it.

However, one good thing down here is that things are DIRT CHEAP! You can by a 5000 sq/ft mansion for what you pay for junk in Bergen County, NJ.
I also enjoy the 6 lane highways (when its not packed with traffic). Really fun hearing the LS roar after a long day of work and your cancer patients dying on you.

DarkSithCL, i will definitely make a meet or two if my schedule allows. Looking forward to meeting the H-town AZ crew.
