Driving a stick on a stronger car...

I currently drive a stick on my 95 Accord LX (130HP?) and it's pretty easy. I've never driven a stick on any other car and was just curious of what the big differences are from a weak car and a stronger one.. for example a TSX.

From what i remeber, a car with more torque is easier to drive stick. But remeber a TSX is an accord type R (sorta) so it might be similar. I used to drive a 96hp civic, and when i drove a bmw 330 ci, it was really easy

The TSX is the easiest MT car I've ever driven. Light and linear clutch, super smooth transmission and a fair amount of torque makes it easy. Plus the DBW makes it impossible to stall the car if you just want to creep in first gear in traffic.

Wow it's easier? That's quite assuring to me because I was afraid that I'd have a hard time driving the TSX if I were to get it...

Going from my 98CL to my ex-bf's 99 SVT Contour wasn't a huge difference, but the clutch on a 03 Mustang GT was really heavy, and I had some difficulty with it. It was pretty easy to drive a S2K, too.

I thought it was the more torque you have the harder the clutch?? Thats what I always thought. I might be wrong though. I used to work for Volvo and the regular S60 had a really easy clutch(like it was built for dummies), but the S60 T5 and especially the R had harder, stiffer clutches. Same with the WRX STI and Corvette. My Maxima clutch is also stiffer than my friends Jetta clutch too. I find Honda/Acura clutches to be smooth no matter how much power they put out. Maybe because of the high revving lower torque engines??

ive driven a 74 Jeep CJ-5 and an 03 Carrera (both stick) The Jeep is a piece of cake, and the carrera has a really stiff clutch, and its easier to stall, but once you get it in the powerful car its amazing

You guys crack me up, Stock Mustangs HAVE NO CLUTCH. Drive 800-1000 hp cars with clutches that don't slip, then talk about how heavy a stock Mustang or Cobra clutch is...

The clutch in my Stang is fairly easy imo, it just shakes the whole driveline like the axles are going to fall out if you try to launch it under 2K when the clutch gets hot...

You will hardly notice any diff in either the clutch action or that much in performance. The HP figures on paper between your LX Accord and TSX may seem huge, but they translate to maybe 1s diff in 0-60 times. The TSX is about 400 lbs heavier than your car and the tq figure diff is much less than the HP diff. The diff you will notice is the handling and of course the much nicer interior.

I've owned a couple of manual cars and I think the CL-S 6M/T is probably one of the most difficult systems i have encountered. The clutch is light, but the engagement point is definitely much more different than anything else I have owned. On a side note, I hear Porsche manuals are pretty difficult to master also, partly because of engagement points.

My gf still bitches once in awhile if I don't have a perfect shift. My buddy drives an Integra GSR M/T, and he said he was very surprised when he drove my car for the first time. Same thing with my other buddy who has the RSX-S 6 M/T.

I'd still take the CL-S over those cars though. I love my car!

Same here

The issues's aren't the power differences, but how the clutch is with that car. I drove a Viper & several high HP cars & didn't have a problem. I have driven a Porsche 6 speed(99) also & the clutch is simlar to the CLS6 I think. Takes some adjustment.

I don't think it has as much to do with the ease of driving the car as much as it does the take up of the clutch...lowere power cars tend to have a lighter clutch as opposed to higher power car with a stiffer clutch..

I just sat in a 2005 911 Turbo, man, I had to use some leg muscle to push that clutch in. I got back in my TSX and it felt light as a feather.

Easier. Used to have a 140 HP EclipseGS. Comparing a CLS 6MT and my Integra to the Eclipse. The Teg and the CLS6 were much easier to drive, and both are more powerful.

Really? I only drove the CL-S 6spd for 15/20 minutes (test drive), and absolutely loved the clutch response. Took me no time to get it right. Very easy to operate and get acquainted with, IMO.

But maybe that's because I've also driven a Stage IV 4-puck race clutch that acted more as an ON/OFF switch rather than a clutch!
