Fantastic car! It's funny, I'm eyeing both of your cars as possible replacements for my G next year. I really have fallen hard for the Optima SX...

Honestly, they would need to change the front seats. They're not bolstered like a sports car.
The Lexicon system w/ the Tech package is on a different plane (some people get the tech package just for that).

Agreed that seats need more countouring, but Genesis is more of a luxo-cruiser; maybe it'll change with the next gen. if Hyundai makes the Genesis sportier.

I know some people really the interior, but personally find it (well the dash) to be the weak point; don't care for the design and the painted plastic buttons don't help).

Hyundai has done a good job recalibrating the suspension, giving the '12 Genesis a more compliant ride (altho a big part of that can also be contributed to finally getting rid of those crappy OEM Dunlops) than when it 1st came out (the R-Spec definitely has a firmer suspension which some people won't be happy about, altho those coming from sporty cars seem to have little complaints).

As for the new 8 spd AT - people have found it to be a smooth shifter, but a no. of complained about it being a bit slow on the downshift (probably attributed to the ECU programming for optimizing fuel economy and the fact that it has 8 gears).

I personally think, that for a Hyundai, the styling is great. But as time progresses, they will be expected to be better.

Very good review and comparison though!

And what makes you think they won't knock the next gen out of the park too. Unlike some mfgrs who still think their design rocks.

Sorry but the tires don't have much to do with the ride difference. It has a very different spring rate than it did before and different shocks/struts.

Just curious where you get your info on the number of people that have complained about the transmission "issues"?

Actually the tires do play a big roll in it. My dad has an 10 genny, the stock dunlops that came on the car were shit. His Mich pilot sport AS make the ride much different.

Nice car. Oh and Get rid of the H on the back and get the Genesis badge to replace it.

The tires do play a part, but the significant change was due to the suspension components. I have the new badges...just waiting for a warm day
