drive by a new RL today!!!

was at Hwy7/mc cowan in the afternoon and saw a new RL coming out from the Acura in Markam. i guess it's driven by the manager or sth like that...

that car is sooooo sweet!!!! and it doesn't look large at all!!!

i am amazed that they are using 245/50/17 Michilien MXM4....it helps the handling but it's a bit too wide...

i can't believe i can see a real RL this early!!! haha

245 is wide?! Heck...If I had the RL I'd swap out the 245/50/17 tires and get 275/40/18 Pirelli PZero Nero M&S. Speedo will be perfect, and you'll still have decent ride quality.

I think I need to see one in person. I saw the preview in Road and Track, and the tail looked kinda like a cheap Ford/Mercury Taurus/Sable. The front and side looks hot though. I'm really surprised they went away from the TSX/TL "sleek boxy" shape. Plus you gotta love the signals in the mirrors instead of the sidemarkers on the TL (makes it easier to mod with the 745i sidemarkers).

And yes I know this comment is worthless without pics...

Will the RL be able to handle wider tires and lower offsets compared to our TL's? Curious if you can put some deep dish rims on 'em.

Well....generally speaking, since it's an AWD, the wheel offset should be smaller.

FWD = greatest offset
RWD = smallest offset

Not necessarily. My friends AWD WRX has pretty big offsets. Since the RL still has a transversely mounted engine, I'm thinking the offsets will still be pretty big. At least for the front wheels.

Also, as for the 275 width tires, unless you have at least a 9" wide rim, the 275's will be too wide. I"m guessing the RL will come with 8" rims, as that's typically what a 245 tire is mounted on.

Also, I don't know of many cars that will fit a 275 width tire on the front. They are usually staggered. And I'm pretty sure an RL will look pretty silly with wider tires out back than up front, considering it's predominanly FWD most of the time. I don't think you are supposed to stagger an AWD system anyways.

Did you even check the tire size before you posted this? 275/45/18 is 4.1% off! (acceptable is +/- 2%)

If you must keep a 45 series tire then the next step down is a 245/45/18

20's would look dope on the new RL... I think 18's would look too small. You could do a 245/40/ZR20..??

2005 Acura RL specs

...looks like 17" standard to me, but I think the RL at most auto shows did have 20's.

I cannot find it.
At present new Legend in Japan has only one kind of engine, transmission and suspension.
Since HONDA says that the target sales of new Legend is only 500 vehicles per month, I think that development of after market mod accessories for this will be quite slow here.

50mm huh. Looks like small lips will be the norm with the new Acuras. Oh well, still a blazing hott car!

Per the Oracle, there will be an A-Spec. No further info, though.
