DMV/Title question for selling car

I want to sell my beater, but here's the problem: I bought the car not so long ago, so I still haven't gotten the title (I think it takes 90 days for NY)...

Has anyone been in a similar situation? How does it work? I mean, I don't think I can sell the car without a title, so does that mean I'm stuck with it until I get the title? Or is there some sort of temporary title thingy that I can get from the DMV?

I don't know what kind of "time frame" your on but if your not in a bind for cash just wait on it. because personally, even if I was buying a beater I'd be concerned if you don't hold a legal title. That throws up flags left and right.

Usually when you register a new car, it takes 4-6 wks to get a title. How long ago did u register the beater?

I got sent in the paper work about 3 weeks ago, so supposedly it doesn't arrive until another 2 months or so.

I called up the title bureau of the DMV, and told the lady about my situation, and she just went ahead and issued the new title for me

All it was was a click of a button on her part, took less than 3 seconds... Makes you wonder why it takes 90 days usually...
