Discount swapped my tires....HELP
I purchased some Falken ZE 912 220/40/18 tires for my 01 CLS and came back to get them installed at Discount tire when they arrived. I dropped my car off and went to a store next door. I come back a half hour later and the guy said there was a problem.
They didn't receive the 912's that day but had Falken 512's in stock and were almost installed. He said these were better and more expensive than the 912's. Is this a good swap? They charged $600 for all four with replacement warrenty.
Good swap or should I go back and switch. I have 30 days..

Which discount did you go to?
My buddy is a Asst. manager at discount tire store in Kirkland. I will give him a call tomorrow and see if they were telling you the truth or not.
Mean time, you should go to tirerack to check 512's review.

I went to the discount on 196th in lynnwood btw.
I am no tire expert at all but from what I read online so far the 512's are an older version. I could be way off as this info is from no reputable source that I trust. Seems to me they might be wanting to move the old 512's at discount maybe.
Anyone else have any opinions on whether or not these 512's are keepers? I could just roast them during the next 28 days and then bring them back to their shop like the old lady in the commercials.

if they put the 512s on your car without informing you yeah i'd bitch.
now if the manager or sales person said "look we got a few sets of 512s in the back we'll cut you a deal, same tread pattern, same everything just older tire and you picked to go with that, i wouldn't raise hell." but if you specifically REQUESTED 912s and they gave you 512s they failed to follow simple directions.

Ya. My tires were already off my rims when I got back and it looked like they were already putting on the 512's. I didn't know if I should have told them to stop and put the old tires back on so I was ok with them putting on the remainding 512's. I'm here asking if any of you guys had experience with either of the sets and which ones were a better deal

If the tire they swapped on in place of the one you bought are better, just mention to them that they should have told you first; otherwise, if they are not better, tell them that they need to order the tires you wanted, and possibly give you a discount for the inconvenience and for not asking you if you agreed to the swap first.

Found out the 512's are now discontinued and that the 912's are the replacements that have improvements in tread life and other things. Time to go back in there I guess....
hopefully this goes smoothly and they don't "f*ck" anything up on "accident".

yeah the 912's are the newer tire. from what ive read, the 912's have longer tread life and a quieter/softer ride.
ive had the 512's before and liked them a lot. they have pretty firm sidewalls and lasted 25k for me.

I totally forgot about it. I have been busy with work and my car.
If you don't mind driving down to up to Kirkland then my buddy can definitely help you out with the issue. He can even beat whatever the price they gave you.
Pm me if you need more info.
