Differences between the Honda Accord and the TL
Hi, hoping you all can clarify some things for me. Besides the oranges to apples comparison, what are the major differences between the Accord and TL? Obviously, one major factor is the price. I just saw a fully loaded Accord for $28000
. Starting to do some research as to what car I might be interested in since my lease will be up in 2 months
. Honda dealership said they would take care of my last 2 pymts
. While Acura said they weren't able to offer me that at present moment
.
Looking forward to your posts..K

You're 20 years old. The Accord can wait til your 30 and married
That's the difference. Now the Accord coupe on the other hand...
oh, n/m. 20 posts
I was just kidding anyway.

the TL is a much nicer and more refined car. People say that there a 5K-7K difference in price and its almost the same car. In honesty, its not the same car. The accord is an economical vehicle for a person that needs to get from point A to B. The TL is a car for people that want to enjoy their ride from point A-B, and as well be different from the rest. The TL gives the driver a better experience, and it's passengers as well. For the price difference, you get better technology, better safety (HID headlamps, etc), better suspension, better resale value, better performance, etc.
Basically as you said before, its apples and oranges.

- Price
- HP(TL - 280 to 305hp, Accord, 177 to 273, I think 273 is the updated number for this year)
- TL has AWD option
Compared to a fully loaded Accord V6 with navi, the TL offers,
- better navigation system
- better sound system
- active noise cancellation
- SH-AWD option
- HID's
- Better brakes
- Upgraded A/C
- Push button engine start
- Handsfree (not sure if Accord has this or not actually)
- Tire pressure monitor (again, not sure if the Accord has this or not)
- Voice activated controls
and a whole lot more

Wonder why I wasn't surprised you all would favor the TL. I have not seen the new TL yet. Will be going to Acura dealership in March since my lease ends April 1. The one thing holding me back from another Acura is the service. I just took my car to Honda to get a proble checked. Since the car is still under Acura warranty, I have to get it taken care of by Acura. When I leased the car, I was assured any issues could be taken care of at Honda. Obviously, that wasn't 100% true. Now, I have to add miles to my car, pay for lodging, and any expenses to take care of any mechanical problems with the car. Probably, one of the reasons I am looking at other cars that can be serviced in my little town.
I cant speak for the 8G Accord vs 4G TL because I have not experienced either. But from a 7G AV6 EX-L w/Navi vs 3G TL w/Navi (non-S), I just did not find the TL to be $7k better than my Accord. $3-4k? Maybe.
Knight rider, I definitely understand what you are saying. I would love another TL. In my town, I have only seen at most 10-15 Acura TLs. My car actually stands out from the crowd. But basically, I want to know if besides the prestige factor, would the Accord hold up to the TL. Hope that makes sense.

To be honest, they said they were not sure exactly what was wrong with it. Said it could be the compressor or the idle switch. But, Acura dealership would have to fix it, because of the warranty.
bs. that kind of probably they should have taken care of. the warranty is the same. they can order the same parts as an acura dealership and have the same equipment as the acura dealership. they just didn't want to fix something for free.

but the TL is just overall more luxurious, better leather, more quality control, sh-awd, and has SS mode on automatics.
@ the 'more quality control' and
on the SS mode feature which still won't compensate for the extra 100lb+ curb weight (given that both motors having nearly identical output). On paper, I'd be even more hard pressed to go with the base TL w/Navi over a loaded AV6 for the extra $8k than I would the $7k for the base 3G over 7G AV6. (At least the 3G had a good 14hp and 22 lb-ft more than the AV6...although the TL's curb weight negated that a bit)
But, I would do $8k more for an SH-AWD w/Tech.

maybe in terms of luxury, quality, interior, etc.
but if i HAD to choose the new TL or accord sedan, i'd pay for the top of the line accord. i just can't get over the TL's looks.
the accord sedan has grown on me. i find that it looks better with the spoiler as it doesn't make the rear look so bland. but i still wouldn't call it pretty. the coupe, definitely.
I'm sorry guys... I was talking about 3G TL.
4G TL? No way... New Accord >>>>> New TL (only the looks)
If I'm perfectly comfortable with paying 5-6k more, I'd definitely purchase TL over Accord.
