Decisions,...what to consider???

Family is picking up a new vehicle soon, so I thought I would ask the AZ family for opinions.

Things on the list right now,...

BMW 328
Hyundai Genesis sedan (V6)
Infiniti G37 sedan
Infiniti EX 35 (I know, I know)
Infiniti M35 (MAYBE new, maybe used)
Acura TSX (the I-4, or maybe the V6 if we get it up here)

Lexus and Audi are off the list.

Comment away!!!!!! Feel free to suggest other things we should look at.

I'd definitely wait for the TSX V6. Should be an interesting competitor.

What do you anticipate your family needs are going to be? How much space are you going to need? Do you see your family lugging around a bunch of stuff all the time? Is this a family car or is this YOUR family car? LOL

m35

i've been looking at getting one in a year or two, i'd suggest to look at used tho, as they are extremely cheap compared to the brand new ones
the only thing i've heard is a lot of ppl complain about the gas mileage a lot, doesn't look too bad to me, just thought i'd mention it
good luck with the search

So many questions,......

Space is not a big concern, but the car would get loaded up with stuff from time to time so it would be nice to have good cargo. It will be a family car, not MY family car. I am too young to have a family right now

Realistically, I think we are looking for a replacement for the I30 size wise. We would be fine with any of the cars though. I drive a TSX and it is fine for anything we do 99% of the time (when I am visiting home). The biggest thing is that it is all around a nice car to drive with some good toys in it. I am biased towards more sporty things.

Sorry for all the questions. They were some of the same questions I asked myself hundreds of times before we bought the Avant to plan for when the wifey and I have kids in the next year.

If you are gonna want the space, get the M, otherwise the G. What's the cargo space difference between the i30 and the G? If it's less, your question is pretty much answered.

M35, but I'm biased.

The G's are nice too but they're little more snug.

Please don't get the EX.

Why are Audi and Lexus off the list? The GS 350/450 is a nice car.

But out of what you listed, the M35 and V6 TSX would be at the top of my list.

Besides the Genesis, i drove all those when shopping. I still picked the 328i. The G37 sedan is great too and has extra room. Drive both back to back.

Also the 09 328i has 0.9% for 60 and BMW will pay the first two months. Just saying.

If i had family to haul around then i would most likely get a G8 GT or Genesis.

No Subaru Legacy on the list? About the same room as the TSX, and a hell of a lot more fun to drive. IMO

^atleast you're in Ontario, your prices are atleast closer to the prices of the US compared to the other provinces. If i ever get an M it will have to be either from Ontario(like my last 2 cars) or imported from the states, if the exchange rate becomes better

I can't think of anything sold in the US that isn't also sold in Canada right now.

Last cars I can remember not making it north of the border were the GTO and EVO.

but in this case, it's the opposite.

i could be wrong, but here, the G sedan is only offered as a G35. the G37 is only available in coupe form in the US.

i know the G37 sedan is offered in europe but didn't know it was also available in Canada

the CSX doesn't count. I would get a Civic EX and call it a day. That car gives absolutely no value at all.

if anything, you guys have cars that we don't have down here... a couple off the top of my head are... that little Acura EL (I think it's call)... it's basically a Honda Civic with an Acura badge... and that little M.B. something 200... I can't remember the exact model number, but they are all over Vancouver.

That's the one we were talking about; the CSX.

That little Benz is the B200 you're speaking of. Two of the worst possible values out there to feed the badge whores.

^is300eater is talking about the 1.6el, the ones that started production in 1997, i don't know if they have the newer Acura EL or not, but it's basically the cars that evolved into the final form that we know today as the CSX

I know what he's talking about. The 1G EL started out in 96 until 00 when the 2G carried the flame until 05. Then the CSX arrived later on.

The CSX is pretty cool because you can do a JDM conversion pretty easily.

Thanks for all the feedback so far everyone.

I am all over the place for what I like one minute to the next. Doing test drives will help knock the list down I am sure, but probably make things harder at the same time cause I am pretty sure I know what the final 3 will end up being,...G, M, and BMW. TSX could be a value option I suppose.

To answer some questions,...

Lexus - The IS has useless back seats, and their prices for pkgs are ridiculous up here. GS is getting up there price wise, and it doesnt really do anything for me or my dad. It's a nice car though.

Subaru - I knew someone would bring that up. I am sure the new Legacy is nice to drive, but I just expect more from the interior. Both my dad and I get inside and just kinda go meh. No offense to the proud Subie owners.

Does BMW still offer that maintenance thing for the first 4 yrs or whatever???

Note: the M is stretching it price wise, but I have always liked that car and my dad LOVES it. So it must be considered. Used wouldnt be bad for that either.
