Crx?

Friend is moving to NY. He has a black 91 CRX w/ jdm D series motor ( 130hp ) pretty low milage on the motor and maybe 100k+ on the chassis. The car is clean no dings no dents. Lowered on coilovers, exhaust, and 5 zigen gunmetal rims.

He asked $3000, I offerred $2500 and he accepted. Now I have 6 weeks to decide. I have a 4 door GSR sitting in my garage (65k miles). The GSR was just recovered from being stolen ( it got stripped except for the motor ).

Should I bite? I've always wanted to have a project car.

Im thinking about building my (stock) b18c1 and dropping it into the CRX. Allmotor or FI? What do you guys think?

OR

Build a B18c5 ( TYPE R motor ) and drop that into the CRX. Keep the GSR the way it is... probably boost it eventually when the car is back up to par.

I have been waiting to find a CLEAN EG/EK/EF and this is it.

Unless you have big plans for the integra go for the crx. A friend of mine used to build them and they really impressed me. Can put out a lot of power for such a small car and reall move.

IMO, that's to much for a CRX, when we were looking for one most were around 1500-2K. We ended up buying one from a friend leaving to the navy for $800

Okay I got a 91 Si CRX with a slightly built motor in it. it has coilovers, cherry bomb exhaust, full roll cage, it's been gutted because all we do with it is autocross at SCCA. now question #1. would you go with the Type R motor vs built stock. Depends on what you're gonna do with it. I was looking at the same thing when I got my CRX. only thing is I couldn't run it in STS class if i put in a Type R motor.
but if your gonna cruise around and shock some people with power sure go with a Type. But i priced a Spoon Motorsports B18C5 it was 5-6 grand without install. (that no transmission). so you're talking probably at least 8 grand by the time you're out the door. However I've went through 2 stock motors and 1 stock transmission and 3 clutches in 4 years.

JDM k20a motor is around 6-7 grand with transmission. I know the engine does not clear the stock hood. It is about an inch or two tall.

A gutted out CRX (1700lbs) with a kseries bone stock? I would imagine 11's all day with the realiability of an integra type r from the factory. Build the motor and 10's all day.

I think hasport makes the motor mounts for around $600 for the k20a/CRX hybrid conversion.

I remember seeing a crx with a supercharged k24 motor i forgot which magazine.

I just picked up a crappy b15 CRX for dirt cheap, and am saving up for either a JDM B16A or B18C1 (need input on which to buy). Anyone care to help me out on this? What kind of acceleration should I expect from both?

no, you can get b-series motors for that cheap now, esp. here in LA. I bought a mint b16a a few years back for $800

1st gen b16's can be had for $1200 or less. And that includes the tranny and the axles.

Edr0e, search Anarchy Motors on eBay. They were selling a B18C1 w/o the tranny for just under $2,000. I'd take it, but it'd be pointless since its so cold in Chicago right now, and, I'm not exactly where I want to be in terms of financing it. In about 4 months though, it's on
