Cruiser cam catches 100 mph crash

Freakin Dukes of Hazzard style.
Now that's what I call a FireBIRD

VIDEO: http://www.wdtn.com/dpp/news/video%3...caught-on-tape

SUGARCREEK TWP., Montgomery Co. (WDTN) - A single car crash on Interstate 675 shut down the southbound lanes in Sugarcreek Twp. for six hours Aug. 23.

Brennan S. Eden, 19, of Mason, Ohio, lost control of his car and slammed into the concrete pillar of a bridge south of Indian Ripple Road about 7:15 a.m.

The force of the crash broke the car into three pieces and Brennan was ejected.

Witnesses said moments before the crash, Brennan was passing other drivers at speeds of at least 100 mph. He crashed when he drove off the left side of the roadway while passing a Sugarcreek Twp. police car. The crash was caught on that officer's cruiser camera.

"He went down into the median, into the grass, hit the guardrail, went airborne and the car hit the center post of the bridge and literally exploded into three main pieces," said witness Mark Riley.

Police said Brennan was alert and conscious after the crash and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight where he was last listed in critical condition.

"He is very lucky to still be alive at this point," said Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Marty Fellure. "You can see behind me the impact he took and where he got ejected and landed, he's a very fortunate man right now."
Fellure said they are still investigating the crash trying to determine the driver's speed and why he was passing.

That was awesome ... I don't think I've ever seen a car get airborne like that "in real life" ...

How he lived I have no idea. That looked like a mid-80s Firebird and they weren't exactly built like Mercedes G-wagons.

gtfo, that was a cool looking crash. It's only cool if the person being stupid is the only one affected.

Heh, that's the exit where a good friend of mine lives. If the kid wanted a thrill, he should have taken 35 out past Xenia and made a skydive at Skydive Greene County. It's only about 15 minutes from where he crashed. Would have been a lot cheaper, and less painful.

Oh well.

Wow that's amazing. Luckily the pieces of the car didn't hit other cars since traffic appeared to be light.

100 mph at 7:15am FTL. Way too early

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) - Brennan Eden, the driver of the car that went airborne and crashed on I-675 in Beavercreek, Ohio Aug. 23 had been arrested and released by Beavercreek Police approximately an hour before the crash occurred.
According to a statement by the Beavercreek Police Department, Eden, 19, of Mason, Ohio, was arrested at approximately 6:13 a.m.
Police said the Eden was found in his car with a juvenile female in a parking ot near the corner of Beaver Vu Dr. and N. Fairfield Rd. Police said they found an unopened can of alcohol, a trace of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia inside Eden's car.
Eden was cited for prohibition, drug paraphernalia, and drug abuse and released prior to 6:54 a.m. Police said Eden was cooperative and there were no indications he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest.
The girl was also arrested then released to the custody of her father.

Eden lost control of his car and slammed into the concrete pillar of a bridge south of Indian Ripple Road. The force of the crash broke the car into three pieces and Brennan was ejected.
