sorry, i did this at lunch was squeezed for time.

I have an 03 Type-S, and I'm looking at an 08 TL-S and a G37. I've had some suggestions saying that i should wait until the 09 TL comes out, but i wouldn't buy a first year car, until the bugs are worked out.

I guess I could wait until the 09 comes out, but i'm really itching to drive a stick.

So far, the G37:
is more powerful
a bit more stylish (IMO)
RWD
coupe
stick

The TL is:
Smoother
comfyer(if thats a word)
More fuel economic (not really a factor, since the tach is around 4k most of the time)

I've heard rumours about the VQ being really harsh past 3k rpm, and all the power is wayyyyyy up there, i need low-end grunt.

Right now, the deciding factor may be whether the TL gets SH-AWD. I don't think it will, since it's based off the Accord, which, as we all know, doesnt have AWD. I also might not buy the TL if its as big as the Accord. gonna be a bitch to park.

I'm heading over to the Infiniti dealer right now, see if I can get a test-drive. I'm shecking out the Yorkville dealer, in Toronto, and today might be a good day to see the G37's prowess in the rain, such shitty weather down here.

Anyone have any experience w/ yorkville? good? bad? lenient? I'm going out tonight, so it'll be nice if i can get the test-drive through quickly, or hopefully they'll let me take the car for the night.

Ill keep you updated.

I just like playing with the throttle on on-ramps and stoplights, and I floor this thing quite a bit.

probably why my first tranny died at 22k

I'm thinkin about sticking w/ the TL until the 09, and then evaluate my choices.

change into a TL-S for now and that should hold you off until 2010 when the G37 has worked out all the kinks or the new TL is in it's second year...

i don't know what you think of the new C class benz.
but if you don't mind an automatic tranny car. go with a C350. I'm really hyped about this ride.
IMHO: if i was to RWD nice sedan with a little bit of a sport feel to it. I'd go with a C350.
I'm not crazy about the BMW 3.

Hey ...

I'm in the same predicament as yourself ... '02 TL-S (since May 2001) but I'm getting the itch. I already drove the 335i but it had its idiocyncracies (to me, at least). Not too big a fan of the S5/A5 (way overpriced in Canada and not sure if I want to import an Audi ... or at least find a dealer who will sell to a Canadian in Michigan).

I've basically decided to go with a G37 this spring ... wouldn't want to drive a G through one less Canadian winter than it has to. I like how it feels and it is much more justifiable a purchase at C$50k than the previous model (despite what the 1st gen owners will say). The interior of the 2nd gen is lightyears ahead of its predecessor.

Now ... Infiniti of Yorkville ... I heard they are a bunch of dicks when it comes to negotiation. But I'm not from GTA (went to UofT for 4 years) so I've heard my stories from my rich friends who parked at Innis College ... You might have better luck with a dealership in the 'burbs.

I think you may have to wait a bit for deals to be had for this car. If you want to wait until '09, another benefit (besides ironing out of 1st year production bugs) is the "self-healing" paint. That becomes standard for virtually all Infiniti models (premiered in the EX35).

One thing you may want to consider is importing a G from the 'States. A G37S without navi but premium package (virtually the same options as a Canadian G37S MSRP's at US$40k, including freight (aka 'destination'). Add 6.1% and 14% (GST+PST) and you're talking about C$47.4k using a 2% exchange rate. Saving about C$5k over a Canadian model (freight ~ C$1700). Look at the car import thread at redflagdeals.com if you want to think about it. Importing a new car is pretty easy ... I did that for my wife's TSX.

Yeah then he can go through 6 years of wallet draining depreciation instead of 3!

Sounds like a great deal. Where do I sign up for that? I don't like having money. I try to get rid if it as quickly as possible.

thing is, i really want to take advantage of the dollar right now, and import something from the states, but im not really happy with the choices.

i think the C-class looks even uglier. i liked to old one and M-U-S-T have a 6-speed.

new option: set up a fund of US dollars, and wait awhile and see what there is. i really want to see the '09 TL. i hope they dont accordify it.

BMW 3 is out of the question. too ugly, too overpriced, and too slow (for the money)

Audi S5 looks attractive, but i heard they are really dicks when importing one from the states

buying a TL now and waiting a couple years isnt really a smart move financially

the only reason i went to infiniti of Yorkville was because i wanted to try out the suspension downtown, since that is where i live and work.
i asked for a G37 6-speed to test out, preferable with the 4-wheel steering to see what it was like. after an hour of haggling, discussing, and being put off to the side, i finally got a drive in an infiniti. read that last part carefully
what came out to greet me was a flashy white G35 auto.
i just blinked but went with it.
i drove down bay street, but only got to bloor. dealer, sitting beside me with his ipod on, said, ok turn back im like what? that wasnt even 5 minutes.
they're like we dont think you're a serious buyer.

eh, what?

any decent dealers in the suburbs?
