Considering a Used Z
Considering a Used Z
I am looking to get a new (used) car and have decided on a Nissan Z. I have always loved the Z and want something fun. I have found 4 cars that are for sale in my area that I am considering.
1. 09 370Z--16,500 miles, red exterior, black interior, 6spd manual
Asking Price $28,000
Pros--newer model, current styling, only one other 370 where I live.
Cons--red wouldn't be my first color choice.
2. 08 350Z--17,600 miles, black exterior, black interior, automatic
Asking Price $21,370
Pros--price, car looks very clean, low miles.
Cons--not much.
3. 08 350Z Roadster--25,300 miles, gray exterior, black interior, automatic
Asking Price $25,995
Pros--never owned a convertible.
Cons--Never owned one so not sure about reliability of soft top over time.
4. 08 350Z Nismo--25,800 miles, white exterior, black/red interior, 6sp manual
Asking Price $29,995
Pros--NISMO, love the look, kinda rare
Cons-high price
Which would you pick if you were in my position?

I voted Nismo:
Rare, and living in FLA, the sun will kill a convertible, red, or black paint.
Plus it's a Nismo (did I mention that)
edit: My brother owned a 350Z and loved it. He was able to keep it garaged most of its life. one thing to look out for is the 3 gauge cluster: it tends to crack. Have them replaced under warranty.

Had to swing on the 370 as well. If for no other reason that 350s eat tires ... and I do mean EAT. I don't recommend soft-top convertibles for a number of reasons.
I would say that the Nismo would be nice - white/black, 6spd, etc. Just know that it WILL cost more to keep tires on it.

I also voted for the 370Z over the Nismo as the redesign seems more Z-like (the others are out since I'm one of those luddites who cringe at a sports car with an automatic).
If you haven't yet, I'd pay close attention to the rear visibility, depending on your driving position, and decide if you can live with the ride and noise for a long time on roads in your area. I think it's quite a bit harsher and louder than the Infiniti G.

you live in orlando and frequent key west? the drive out to key west is one of the most beautiful drives in the country. if youre open to a vert, i would strongly suggest nothing but. the Z coupe doesnt have a sunroof and the cockpit is extremely claustrophic. IMO, that take so much away from florida driving.
id hold off for a 350 roadster in the right color and right condition. my friend has a dark blue/charcoal top on white roadster in miami. the thing looks outrageously good.

maybe also look at the miata, slk, and Z4 3.0si?

I considered a 370Z recently. Until I drove it. Cramped & I didn't like the road noise. It was the 6MT sport. Nice car but not for me.
Of your choices I'd go with the 370Z. Verts are nice but not for FL weather. At least not south FL weather too hot almost all year for them & the sun will eat your head & your leather.
