Considering an M Coupe

No, I will NOT be giving up the CL-S ;-)

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...r=&cardist=771

I like the Silver with black interior. I have read a fair amount on this car and it sounds really fun to drive. I can probably get one for under 25K out the door in good condition. Any input guys???

One of my favorite cars on the road. Don't like the convertibles but love the coupes.

my really good friend Ken bought one. (you guysmight remember him M3lite) Anyways its a fun car, the downside he says is that its made in american and there are rattles everywhere. He goes on the mcoupe forums and they all say the same.

But since its not your daily driver, i say go for it. I had a blast driving it.

I've been looking at this type of car for about three years. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger soon.

I like 'em, but I like the looks of the 2001's better... the coupes rock. VP at work has a red M3 'vert with the color coded hardtop (for winter). I think I would look good in one, but the prices on the 2001 M3's haven't come down that much yet.

You looking for a summer car ??

M Coupes are fucking hot. I would love to have one as a 2nd car. They make GREAT autoXers. I got to ride in a modded one on an course...FUCKING WOW.
You should be able to find 99's for around 18-19g.

but as said, the difference between that one and the 2001 is something like a jump from 240 to 315 hp and another 15 ft-lb of toruqe, so i think you can get the price down a bit

Yes the HP jumped up in the new models but so did the price. It's definitely a summer car with my CL-S being the daily driver. I haven't test driven one yet and I know that when I do I'll be buying it.

Somebody on the board has one. I know Beltfed had one a while back. Someone else has one. Anyone remember?

I don't have one, but my mom has a 99 m roadster. I've driven it, and it is a blast to drive. She only has 10,000 miles on it and i haven't noticed the rattle problem you said. It is crazy fast from a stop. It is a little cramped inside, and the seats are kinda hard, but otherwise i really like it. I still like that body style over the new z4 body.

good luck trying to find an 01 or an 02 m coupe...really really hard to find, and usually very expensive with tons of miles

Also, the guy lists a 3.2 liter engine...didn't the 99's have 3.0 engine? The 3.2 in the newer m coupes had basically the same engine as the new M3's (slightly detuned), whereas the old ones had the 3.0 from the older m3s

the m roadster.... i have never had more fun in a car. corners like crazy, quick off the line and on the highway....sexy lines and great stereo. i didn't want to give it back to my parents. with a few mods you can have a 350 hp v6 in a little car, that's awesome. i say buy the sucka. the coupes are sexy too...with their asses all wide and those tires...hmmmm.

Don't get that it's only 240hp. The 02-03's are 315hp. Night and day difference....

I raced one off the line one time in my old car (97 Z28, exhaust and a few minor mods), those fuckers are FAST...he took me no problem, wasn't even close! (Don't know if he was modded at all but wouldn't be surprised if he was stock).

I believe the 240 hp version of the roadster was tested at o-60 of 5.1 seconds and the quarter in 14.1-2 seconds. Im not sure about the 315 hp version.
