these responses are strictly biased on those that value principles and those that dont
and BTW to the idiot author, the car is a RENTAL.
shady business like this has a much greater chance to lie in the hands of a single location rental company, not one of the worlds largest car manufacturers. esp. considering rentals car keys are much more prone to being lost and replaced.

Who cares?
You would have to be an absolute idiot to not think that there are a bunch of "Ford Family" products mixed in with your AM.
Bottom line: The Aston Martin vehicles are fantastic....regardless of where the parts come from.

Sorry, this is lame to the extreme. The point is, if you're paying that much money, you expect 100% top drawer style and content.
The car key is the most personal part of the car. Its a symbol of your ownership and right to drive it.
And to find that the Aston Martin brand is just a thin veneer over a Volvo? Exactly like finding out that your Rolex is a gold plated Timex.

The materials to build the AM does not equal its asking price. So you're already more for it than you really should for it. In fact, you're paying for something that's pretty much intangible, whether it be the name, prestige, etc.
But as already pointed out, this may just be the rental key, not the real deal from AM/Ford...Volvo.

I'm glad you understand!
The key point here, is that its the KEY. Keys have very powerful significance in our society.
Secondly, its not like it was specially commisioned and built by Volvo for AM. No, they picked it out of the corporate spare parts bin and wrapped it in plastic. This is not the "no compromises" design philosophy one has every right to expect in a $100k+ car.
As for it being a rental key? Exactly how many AM are rentals to make it worthwhile to have a rental version of the keys? And I don't understand how this would make it better: A standard Volvo key can be set to open an AM... bah that would give me the heebee jeebees if I owned one.
