Anyone else? Talk me back in to my TSX ... my '01 CLS 5AT was a great car and I think the market is ripe to pluck an '03 6MT CLS for CHEAP.
Assumption in all of this is I can give up the 4 doors .... let's assume I can.

The other thing is ... I actually don't mind the CLS interior ... I was looking at pics and it still looks sharp to me.

tough call...
The CL was a great balanced cruiser... TSX is a newer, more youthful sedan.
I don't know, man, for some reason, as I get older, sedans appeal to me much more than coupes. But the CL is pretty large interior-wise and at those prices, ain't a bad pick.
Oooh, I would ask the twins on this one...
Junkster, who thinks the twins would pick the CL.

I am trying to find reasons other than only having 2-doors to NOT do this? thoughts?
By the way - here are the 3 certified ones within 250 miles of me ... that one with 11K miles is looking pretty

I think this one comes down to needs. The TSX is going to be a safer, better handling car. Probably a little safer for the twins
The CL will be a good straight line cruiser and cushier.
Personally, I think the TSX is just a much sharper looking car. It's lean and tight and that same tendency gets reflected on the owner. Showing up at places in the TSX still awes people. Valets still ogle the car and give complements. The CL is okay (the interior is essentially the same as my family's current TL) but the TSX interior just blows it away. The LED backlit gauges are just too cool and the snick-snick of the best 6MT this side of an NSX makes for such a wonderful driving experience that you would honestly have to be crazy to be willing to give it up.
Your choice, Prov, but I think you'll be happier in the end with the TSX.
My two cents.

Well ... I didn't sleep it off
Still thinking about this one ...
Latest issue ... CL vs. TSX fit and finish ... CL's is not that great, but is it really THAT bad? I know my old CLS wasn't too horrible.

Now until then ... where are those performance mods
provench, you may/may not remember we had a couple discussions on the club tsx site before this site was ready. I was excited about getting my TSX, but had concerns about the cars power coming from a CL-S. Anyway, I went through the same cars as you, 2001 CLS > TSX and now wanting a '03 CL-S 6MT.
Now, I'm in the same posisiton as you. I've even expressed my regret in one of the threads here dedicated to the regret of buying a tsx.
I've been looking for a used 2003 CL-S for the exact same reason as you. When I bought my TSX, I overlooked the 2003 CL-S because it was "more of the same". I didn't feel like I was getting a new car going from a 2001 CL-S to a 2003 CL-S, so the TSX attracted me among other reasons.
With that said, I feel damn lucky to be able to afford either of these cars, and by no means is the TSX a bad car. I just miss the 3.2. I also had to search in a 250 mile radius to find a used '03 CLS 6MT. I think there was one in NJ last I looked.

Alright guys ... don't think I am done with this ... I just don't see putting 5K in the TSX to make it as fast as a CL-S that I can have right now
I am more inclined to spend my next 4 years in the CL-S with all the power and a bit more luxury than the TSX.
Zapata ... talk to me bro ... what's not to love about that 6MT CL-S?
Handrin - this probably won't help you keeping this alive, but I feel like I gotta run this one through for a while longer.
Help me out fellas .... TinkySD thoughts? Domn/FDL ... am I nuts?

CLS is an awesome car. The 6MT w/ HLSD completely transforms the car. It's not even close in comparison to the 5AT that i used to own. The stick allows you to play the j32 like the finely tuned violin. The HSLD makes the car feel less boaty in the turns. Acura did a fairly good job in tuning it. I just wish they would've allowed the TSX engineers onto the CLS suspension. Straightline....good weather....i can easily rev to 3k and slip the clutch and the HSLD w/ my tires just grips and launches the car. Snowy weather....it does help.
Now that being said. The fit and finish long-term worries me. Of course there is the moonroof rattle but now and again other little noises will pop-up. Nothing major but a little annoying.
Now into the second year of my ownership I just realize the CLS is a cruiser and that's all it will be. iI have a tendency to want to improve and refine things......CLS is at it's peak. There are some minor things like an intake/headers etc., that you can do without really sacrificing the character of the car. It's nice comfortable car with decent sport and great power. Modding the suspension, sticky tires etc., will make the car more sporty but then you start dealing with issues like road noise...a chasis that wasn't tuned for SPORT suspensions. Now you're making sacrifices to the original character of the car. After having driven the 350z and the S2k i realize that if i really want to make the sacrifices of a truely sporty car then I'm going to go all the way.
and of course the POWER. HLSD helps alot but the road temp and climate really need to be solid otherwise you are have baby it. Now you can baby the CLS and it's great. FOr the past 2 months or so i've been driving fairly conservatively....shifting at 2.5k-3k. Drives like a champ so that's no issue.
SO moral of the story according to me?
CLS great car. I had a TSX for a week when CLS was in the shop. LOVED......LOVED the TSX. Missed the power in CLS of course....how can you not?
But there are things in the TSX that i miss while i'm driving in my CLS.CLS is japanese/american hybird muscle car......some comforts, generally reliable, great power, some small issues
TSX...based on 2 different test drives and 1 week of loaner driving.....refined, sporty sedan with great creature comforts.
If you are willing to accept the CLS for what it is and try not to make it into something that it isn't go for it...............IMHO.....some people go all out and love the car even more.
If you want power..........get a CLS...........if you want comfort get a TSX.
Zapata ... just re-read your post again ... I think I am done with this. I think the honest truth is that there is no perfect car, and that the other things the TSX have are enough to keep the car another four years, pay it off ... then get a smokin' car in 2008.
I just think I will always have a heart for the CL ... and maybe in 2008 ...
