2008 MX5 - 130/month

For comparible performance, a ton more options (heated seats, 100x better stereo, etc) at least 10mpg better on the freeway, and the fact that I dont see one at every light....hands down MX5 over S2K for me. I dont really need the power. The MX is every bit as quick as the CL-S (check the stats...its close!)

but......I still like the S, but I am proud to have purchase my own 1st car. My name is on the temp plate, and it feels soooooooo good!

Be Kind.
I know how it feels man, and my car isn't even as nice or as new an MX5. And you got it just the way you wanted, brand new... sweet! Soak it all in dude.

My car has as much of a stigma as yours but in a different way. There will be haters, but when you show the car to people who drool at it and walk around it and admire it, its all worth it. I brought my car in to work on in my auto class and they loved it.... even my auto teacher who is a Ford guy through and through (owns a stage 1 Roush S197, lifted F250 and a Taurus) liked it. Found out a few things about my car too.

In the end, you overcame the petty bullshit stigma and tomorrow you'll be driving it, they're the ones missing out. Its hard to turn down an S2000 but its also hard to let go of that extra hard earned $$$

I was equally amazed. I went from the GTO to the Miata, and my 6 month premium dropped from $340 to $260!

S2K is sexier, but who wants to rev to 8K all the time to get power, especially in a daily driver? The MX5 is more laid back, has more torque (IIRC), and frankly, 170hp in a 2600 lb car ain't too shabby.

As o2cls has found, they are sporty, fun, inexpensive, and get great mileage. What's not to like?

Lol at the chick car thing...

Here's mine:

Jordon, that color combo looks fantastic... If I lived in a place that had decent weather, the MX5 would be at the top of my list (damn the stereotypes).

Is the Mazda logo glued on, or does it have the prongs? There is a nice shave in order for mine this week.

Apparently acurazine is turning from the S2000 to the Miata!

OP- Nice pick up. A teacher at one of the schools where I work has a red on black '07 Miata and I always give it a nice look over. I actually really like the new redesign. If my kids were not in the picture, I'd probably look at getting one, but I need a backseat

The logo in the center is "pin mounted" (there's a hole). The "MX5" and "Mazda" badges are just glued...

Audio Link
Nautilus Horn
Ditched front license plate bracket and screwed tag directly into the "mouth"

The car needs a drop BAD. worse than the CL! Eibach pro-kit and RX8 sway bars next....

Also, for 50 bucks a muffler shop will cut out the resonator and weld in a piece of pipe.

Instead of the audio link, I bought a Kenwood 8120. Im thinking of putting an 8" sub in the cubby behind the pass. seat.

I want that Nautalis horn...so that soon to come.....

Drop and sways, soon for me as well. Im not sure if I want exhaust on mine, ill def. be doing somthing with the tips though. I got enough freeway drone in the CL to rid me of it the rest of my life!

This week ive ordered LED tails, LED license plate lights, tint, HID's, and a spoiler.

Im hunting down the appearence package, but the cheapest ive been able to find is right around 1300 bucks (front, sides, rear)

Well no disrespect to the OP but it still looks like a girl car. The shape. The size. and for some reason everytime I see one I think of Tia and Tamera from sister sister haha but I see your point. More old ladies would like a semi-luxury car like a TL then a Miata, but around here I see quite a few chicks with the top down in those Miatas. On the other hand, every TL Type-S I've ever seen has a dude behind the wheel. RWD and 1000 lbs. lighter don't exactly make a "man" car imo. if i wanted that i'd drive off in a S2K instead

let's be honest, how does a TSX look any less girly?

and then let's compare what gender you see driving each car the most

Almost every single TSX I've seen has a woman behind the wheel. I actually know a chick who drives a TSX. And I've only seen one or two guys behind the wheel of a TL-S in person before compared to the bunches of women I've seen driving them.

I've seen many, many, many more men driving Miatas that women. Nothing wrong with any of those cars, I actually happen to like them a lot. A girl's car is a new VW Beetle... hands down. Actually, make that pretty much any VW convertible/cabriolet ever made.

What some of you need to do is actually go out and drive some of these cars, instead of just going with what the sheep think and just following the herd blindly. Never driven a new MX-5 but I used to think Mini Coopers were the girliest cars ever. Until I drove a JCW Cooper S which made me almost want to get one myself

Is it that time of the month for you again? Seems like once a month you go on a thread shitting spree...

You're aloud to talk when you get rid of that 200,000 mile junker

I think it usually happens more then once a month, and I'm not the one driving a majority womans car am I.

You're allowed to talk when you actually buy you're own vehicle.

And at junker. I love my truck and everything I'v put it through, I'm convinced it will out live your acura comparatively.

Hey, my names on the title, thats all that matters

I'm at 40,000 miles in three years, so good luck waiting on that. I'll have an E46 M3 when Fall hits, maybe I can cram 200,000 miles before then. I'll even make a new thread after I pass each 50,000 mile interval...

Ah, I will but I doubt it will be that easy. I even shot down my own idea of getting an S2000 because the insurance was too much too, and my car has been incredibly useful. T-tops off, I've transported so much crap thats its almost annoying now, people call me up to help them move stuff all the time because not many of my friends have trucks. Plus its hard to beat 300 lb/ft of torque... I've gotten sideways in my car a bunch of times and its so damn fun that I yell out loud afterwards.

No hating but that doesn't mean jack shit

This guy at my school claims he has a TL, an E500 and an LS400, all because his name was on the titles and to top it off he's only 20 years old. Sure, buddy!

Oh hell no. The TSX does look a bit girly to me. I'm talking newer TL and more specifically the Type S. Every guy around here (usually armenian or asian) I've ever seen drive one has it all modded out, aggressive looking and ready to race. How is that a girly car? The Miata's general aura makes it appear girly to me. Again, just my opinion. I know a Mustang guy who used to race Stangs who bought a Miata and runs it. So in terms of performance it's obviously no slouch. But to me it looks girly.
Sorry if OP can't handle an honest opinion.

^^ Yea, I cant handle a 19yr old, internet troll's opinion. It must be some sort of shitty life to just eek through it caring what others think of your "ride." You're just like the 9 million other teens on this site that only last a few months. This stuff really gets old.

I lik....love it, and thats all that matters. Go whore up someone elses thread
