I think that sounds good....you have to put your inspection or registration sticker in the middle of your windshield?! It's so pretty out in Virginia....

I don't think I can adequately discern between the "drone" and other sounds....anything mechanical sounds good to me unless it's grinding!!

You know...I was trying to come up with a term for "flirty driving" as in what I do when I see a car I like with some guy driving. We drive fast and pass each other while smiling... I was thinking of "fliving" but "drifting" seems perfect!!!

damn am almost a page late for the video response....

Morgan you have freaking gone deaf...thats sounds soooo awesome....i understand GO PRO is not able to pick up the drone but dude other than that the sound is SICK !!!

replacing your current resonator for a longer one will "quiten" your exhaust....so you sure about that....

Yea, certain areas of VA are nice. And unfortunately we have to have the sticker dead center. But its better then having the inspection and registration sticker blocking your view on the driver side of the windshield like NY. I hated that crap.

It does sound great. I love it. Oddly enough, its gotten quieter over the past few days. I love it not and I doubt Im going to mess with it at all.

But we'll see how it is when I get a header.

am glad you leaving it alone !!!

and yeah once you get headers you will have a lot of rasp + the exhaust will be louder....at that point you can switch to a bigger resonator....

if you plan to do that in the next few days/weeks, get the bigger resonator now....if the headers wont come for another couple months, rock the exhaust as is....

All this time I thought the 86 was the successor to the AE86. According to Subaru, we were very wrong:

Morgan, I certainly wish, man. FK ME...this was way before the days of digital images and I didn't take any pictures. She was carburated...didn't know squat about cars at the time. If I had her now, I'd have it slammed on 13" panasports...and have kept that catless exhaust my buddy threw on. I used to like how the engine sounded without it, so I ran it with no filter

Ah...the stupid stuff we do when we're young. and get this...had a brake noise, and the mechanic convinced my grandfather that I should trade it in for a 91 civic. Then, I found it it's becuase the mechanic's brother wanted to use it for circuit racing.

Sorry, rockstar. What happened to the Civic?

And it's funny watching Subaru and Toyota take subtle pot-shots at each other over this car

From what I've heard, Subaru was not too pleased that they had to build it the way Toyota wanted.

Dude, I just quoted you! Don't blame me!

Yeah, total douche, man...but I was young, wtf did I know. I would have kept that badboy back then AND my 91 civic hatch that got 40 mpg. I hit 172K in that car and realized it was not as reliable as I needed it to be as I commuted a lot at the time. Given what I know now I would have done some maintenance and called it a day...but instead, I got the 97 Accord. First car I modded.

I would seriously have kept both of my previous cars as projects.

My Automotive Background

I had my 88 Civic hatch until 2009 IIRC. I sold it to some kid that used it as a track car. His was completely rusted out so he wanted a clean shell. I paid $500 for it back in '05. Sold the motor for $400, the tranny for $150, and the shell for $450. I only put ~10k miles on it in that time, but I loved that car.

In March of '08 I picked up a B18C (GSR) motor to drop in it. Then I came across a K20 that I couldnt pass up. I had already bought my 94 Prelude VTEC ($3700) so I still had transportation.

Around June I came across a mint 90 Civic hatch shell in Kansas City. It was K prepped and had a cage certified for 10.99 in the quarter. I couldnt pass it up and had it shipped to the East Coast. Thats primer in the pic btw, not rust.

Then in August I bought the CL. I had no intentions of modding it. The Prelude was getting up there in mileage and I couldnt trust it anymore. I finally sold it in October of '08 for $3750.

The Civic project was still a go, so I just kept gathering parts. I was taking my time with it, waiting for people to part out their projects so I can get top notch parts for pennies on the dollar.

My best score for that project was the header and radiator. The radiator was $600 new, the header was $1300 new. I got both for $500 I picked up mounts and stage 3 axles for $300. The mounts alone were worth more then that.

But then late 2009 came around. I was down to two cars, the 90 hatch and the CL. I was nearing 105k miles on the CL and I had a turbo kit sitting in my room ready to go in. I just wanted to freshen up the motor first, and I didnt trust any dealers. Thats when I heard about Paul, and then I got hooked on the J series. What started off as a simple 105k service turned into a 3.5l build and then into a 3.6l build. It just kept snow balling.

The CL is fast, but I still missed the way my Civic and Prelude handled. And I wanted RWD. Bad.

We'll see how long this one lasts and what sort of "big" mods I throw at it. The CL was never meant to be modded. But I followed nearly the same path with the FR-S. Tint, coilovers, wheels, intake, exhaust.....even I don't know where it'll go from here. That kind of scares me.

EDIT - Photobucket is being gay tonight, some of the links are dead.

You knew early on that you were going to be an "enthusiast". What I wouldn't give to make my living doing what I'm passionate about.

Great lineup, you have had and currently have, Morgan.

Me, driving since 1996.

88 Ford Taurus station wagon (auto)
87 Corolla
91 Civic hatch
97 accord (modded, just looks)
02 Nissan Frontier (thought I was mature enough for automatic and slow, lasted a month, auto)
04 civic si EP
05 rsx-s
04 TL

Everything has been manual tranny, other than the 2 noted otherwise.

BTW, what are your thoughts on the EP hatch? I used to hate them when they came out, but I dont see many of them around here and they are really starting to grow on me.

Dreem,
I have 2 of my own to tend to. The old one is starting to really get my nerves. She don't listen!

Morgan,
I loved them, and still do. Was slow, but I totaled it...and missed ever since. I had an RSX after, but I still missed the high mounted shifter, the suede seats...and with the HFP kit and lowered...I thought the 04-05's looked damn good.
EP wheels on the RSX

Wasn't a huge fan of the EP, but damn J yours was beautiful

Nothing particularly interesting about my car history. Learned to drive on a 92 Cavalier in 08, got the Accord a few months later, and now the Jetta.

Wish I had the Cav and the Accord back though.
