the front and rears are slightly different than the civic. the last model el had a totally different front end though, so only the sides and rear looked like a civic.

Forget the Acura EL, I just noticed how different the Civic Lineup is in Canada.

The US has (on the top end of the Civic Line) the EX (107HP?) in Sedan and Coupe, and the Si (126HP) in Hatchback only.

Canada seems to have the Si (126) in Sedan AND Coupe and the Si-R (160HP) in Hatchback.

Thats just not fair!

I wonder why Honda has so many models of Civic depending on region?

Yeah the EL is important to the Canadian market simply because the Civic outsells the Accord there. In fact, the Civic was the best selling passenger car not too long ago...

So the EL makes sense

Personally I wouldnt mind the EL being a Civic EX or Si sedan here with a K20.

If you guys think the EL is cool... check out what the Thai's get in their Civics...

http://www.ilovecivic.com/en/index.html

A K20 engine with a 5 speed automatic and LEATHER, 6 disc/Mp3 player and electronic power steering. NOT FAIR.
