Check Out These Cars-when cars had REAL personality !!!!

I know you'll like this one. When cars had personality - Enjoy!!

Harley Earl and the 1938 Buick “Y-Job. Think about this. This picture was taken 70 years ago.

1941 Chrysler Thunderbolt

1951 Buick LeSabre What would you give for this car now?

1951 Chrysler K310

1953 Buick Wildcat

1954 Buick Wildcat II

1954 Dodge FireArrow

1958 Lincoln Premiere

1955 Nash Rambler Cross Country Wagon

1956 Ford Sunliner

1959 Chevrolet Brookwood Stationwagon

1951 Hudson Hornet

1959 Plymouth Fury

1958 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser with a "Continental Kit".

1951 Studebaker Champion

1971 Buick Rivera Boattail

1958 Edsel Convertible

Back in the days when cars had style, and even with so many makes & models, all changing every year, they made a profit.
And, not only that . . . But one could sit on the porch and name the cars as they drove by . . .
Unlike today, when they all look the same.

YEP --- SEVEN DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS - AMERICAN AND IMPORTS

Can you name these 7 cars? They all look alot alike, don't they?

Here's my stab at it...

1) Huyndai Azera?
2) Toyota Camry
3) Nissan Sentra?
4) Mercedes Benz
5) Some type of Suzuki?
6) Honda Accord
7) Ford Taurus

Am I close?

It's not fair that the classic car pictures are large and the modern car pictures are so small.

The 1958 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser with a "Continental Kit" would be a fucking nightmare to park in SF.

Those are the type of cars that I like to look at and whatnot, but I'm not sure I would really want one.

Call me lame, I just like modern cars. Modern everything really.

based on looks alone, i actually think the 1951 Chrysler K310 and
1954 Buick Wildcat II seem pretty nice

edit:
1951 Hudson Hornet...wasn't that the one on Cars? The old grampa car?

Most of those cars are just garish and ugly. A nightmare to drive and even worse to park. Unsafe, poor use of space, slow and bad on gas.

I don't see the appeal.

If i have to drive something from that era, it would be from Europe

'59 brookwood is my wife's dream car. We're actually trying to purchase one right now. It's in upstate NY, $1770, it was used as a military officers vehicle.

I kinda like the Firearrow......

Some of us grew up riding in those beastly Riviera's. Those were the same car as the El Dorado. Big ass, vinyl seat covered 455 engine having 18 foot plus barge. Ugghhh...Makes me think of the bad times when my Mom had a Ford Maverick....Colored Pumpkin Orange.

That boattail Riviera is that's the only car I like out of the lineup though. Then again, its the only car that I actually remember out of that list cause I've seen it before. I'll agree though, I like sedans but most of them today all have a sort of similar look. Nothing really ever sets them apart, looks or features-wise.

"Personality"? If by personality you mean unique in their own special way, yes, but they sure are ugly. I admit, a lot of modern sedans share styling cues but they look waay better than those old boats.

I agree with the OP. There really haven't been any styling breakthroughs lately and things are looking very homogeneous. Morphing tail lights and headlights into every possible permutation is getting lame. I mean just look at the new Z. Are we going to have Pokimon shaped headlights next? I'm looking forward to designs that reduce or eliminate the body 'shell' look and have a more mechanical/functional look with functional parts etc becoming the eye candy.
