Check out this 300ZX

Its like going back in time when you find a car in this good of condition....

1991 Nissan 300ZX TT

This is the car that basically started the mid-nineties japanese sports car renaissance IMO....

Superb example....not sure its worth that much though.

What would you do with it after you buy it? You'd essentially have to turn it into a museum piece for a long time to see any return on your investment. Driving it anywhere would de-value it very very quickly.

Interesting conundrum.

The only Nissan I ever loved (the TT, that is). Awesome, awesome example. They sure don't make em like that anymore.

Well if you are a balla, you buy it and drive it.

I don't think you'll ever see a six-figure Z-car at Barrett Jackson

No point in buying it if you don't drive it.

oh yes if I bought it I would drive it.

but, don't you think shit would break real easily on it? hoses and other things must be brittle from non-use?

Not really...it was in a climate controlled garage and used enough to keep things moving.

Absolutely no doubt. That thing would spring leaks all over the place, especially the hoses. Not that it would happen all at once, but a car like that would need a significant go-thru before trusting it for extended street use.

oic. and thinking about it some more - 5k miles is nothing for a 17 yr old car. The car hasn't been "driven" enough for it to be 'seasoned'.

Its a situation that pops up in most extremely low mileage older cars, some worse than others. That 300ZX would definitely be on the less severe side of the problem, it would certainly need hoses and probably a few vacuum lines. It would probably spring a couple of oil leaks from dried out gaskets and seals, but unlikely anything truly catastrophic.

Italian cars on the other hand, Ferraris and such, are a whole different ballgame. Take a 3,000 mile 1991 348 in original condition and blast it down the road....and in short order it would likely start spewing oil and who knows what else. Italian cars do NOT like sitting for long periods of time without consistent use. German cars are much the same, but not as severe.

Quite true, I guess I'm reading Keith Martin's Sports Car Market too closely these days. I could see big bucks for a car with under 1000 miles, but 13,000 miles makes it a used car to me....albeit a very desirable one. Just my

If I had a lot of money I would love to get that 300zx, my favorite car growing up. Still think it looks good today, not dated at all.

The 300zx, Supra, 3000GT(last year or two), RX-7, and NSX were all great looking cars and looked a lot better than the C4's, Camaro's, Trans Am's, and Mustang's of their era.

actually he wants over 60 for it. It is steep, but those cars do command that price - and it will sell for pretty high.

yeah the Supra is very special - not really comparable to other cars and prices.

What's the point of buying these cars if you're going to drive it 300 miles a year. I can see having a weekend car, but it will be driven.

You have to account for inflation too. I still love 300ZXs even though I hear that the TTs are a pain to work on, and I'd change out that shift knob ASAP, it looks like a phallus
