Changing tranny fluid and filter 1999 Suburban.

Since Acurazine is the king of forums I will ask here first.

has anyone here change tranny fluid and filter on 1996 to 1999 Tahoe or suburban 2 wheel drive or C1500 truck.

meaning unbolt it and lift it?
it can't really hurt to follow the manual's directions. Hayes is a pretty good manual.
I had a 96 4X4 suburban. I don't remember having to lift the tranny, but 4wd is diff than 2wd.

I looked at it and is it just simple. take the 16 bolts off and remove the pan?

IIRC there is a crossmember there (under the pan). that might be why you have to lift the tranny.

IME, if it looks simple, than it is simple.

Yup, i believe the cross member is under there. GM has a knack for doing this. Jus ttake it to a tranny shop for 60 bucks.

Make sure they use Dexron-VI, not Dexron-III(H).

Dexron-III(H) licensing has expired and who knows what is in those bottles now, as GM no longer monitors their contents.
